LR Atty question

What are the advantages/disadvantages of switching to a LR atty?

in a nutshell:

- you are increasing your watts (more heat/power given to the coil) by using an LR atty, which basically means more Vapor/TH/Flavor/
- you are decreasing your battery life, and arguably the lifespan of your atty.

I might be wrong, hopefully some 'veterans' will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, more flavor and vapor and TH.

Drawbacks: LR drain batteries above and beyond what they were designed for. Perfectly fine on a battery mod, but hard on the ego bats and killer for those little bitty 180mah cig sized bats.

LR also has a shorter lifespan then a regular.

Yup, more heat and quicker to heat up = more vapor and throat hit, but less battery life, and higher juice consumption. But it's worth it in my opinion.

The bigger number difference between the volts and the atty rating number the greater the amperage(amps) to the coil. Amperage is essentially bad. You want to keep amperage at a bare min for battery life.

Dividing volts by ohms(resistance) will give you your amperage number. Your normal 2.5ohm attys will last alot longer using a mega 510 3.1 volt than on higher voltage batteries like the ego or 6v. Yes, the ego battery will last longer, but you will still get greater amperage to the 2.5atty coil which should get you more vapor but you will go through attys quicker on the ego.

6v / 2.5ohm = 2.4amps where is 3.1v / 2.5ohms will put 1.2 amps to the atty. therefore preserving battery and atty life.


a 4.0ohm atty will work really really good with a 6volt battery...god knows why these havent been invented yet.

The biggest disadvantage is they will put you in the poor house if you are buying premade juice. They are juice Hogs but ohhhhh so worth it. If you do not already DIY the LR's will get you there sooner. Enjoy

The LR Atty was made to simulate HV vaping and its close but not quite the same, it burns your juice faster and creates more vapor at the lower voltages. Something else you could do though which I prefer is to up the voltage on your regular Atty. I use a reg 510 Atty between 2.3-2.5 ohms and enjoy this much more around 4.6V than an LR Atty. This creates a nice thick favorable vapor without burning up your juice so much. Don't get me wrong LR's are OK but they are really hot, they spit juice up at your tongue and mouth and also burn juices a lot of the time and take away from the flavor at times. If you get the chance to up your voltage with some other variable voltage Mod than just a reg 3.7v ecig and get the chance to try say 4.4-4.6v with that Reg ohm Atty you may enjoy this more, I personally do, its all very subjective but I like a nice warm thick vapor instead of a scolding hot vapor

On the flip side some Mods that are only built for say an 18650 Batt that charges peak to 4.2 are very good with an LR Atty. It seems to me it all depends what Mod your using to achieve the best vape & Atty combo. Thus having a few different Mods is a good thing

I got an protege 3.7 volt that I use. What would LR do on it? I like lots of vapor and flavor, and I am already a dripper.I mainly use 901 atomizers. But I don't want the hot burnt taste, and I don't really want an atty that lasts less. I don't want it to taste like a 5 or 6 volt either. Should I just stay with regular 901? What is a high voltage atomizer and what would it do on a protege or mini glv2?
