As one who had stuck with pretty routine 510 (and lately Ego) gear, I was pretty eager to test out LR attys. So of course I stocked up with the biggest stash of any sort of atty I'd ever bought.

Not immediately, but after a couple days, I started noticing I really wasn't enjoying the flavor of my juice anymore. I've been vaping nearly exclusively Septwolves, a dekang tobacco flavor that I like mainly because it doesn't deliver the annoyingly detectable non-tobacco (peanuts, pineapple, maple sugar, etc.) overtones that so many seem to. What I started noticing was that most of the flavor was not there excepting, it seemed, whatever was used to add sweetness (I'm guessing cotton candy sweetener from the flavor.) I was starting to wonder if I'd just lost my tasted for Septwolves (which I've still got a couple hundred ML of). Tried a cleaning/dry burn to no real effect, and went back to my regular resistance atty, and flavor was back to normal.

Is anybody else who's tried LR 510 attys noticed the same thing? Is it particularly connected to tobacco flavors? And should I consider this a sign of what I would experience vaping this flavor through a true higher-voltage mod?

I love the LR attys, and yes, thats what your flavor would most likely taste like at 5-6v.I guess its not for everyone.

Or at least, for every flavor. I really prefer it with my tabacco juice though. It's the lighter flavors that start to get an odd flavor for me. Especially vanilla. Any vanilla I use tastes like crap at LR.

I find that a reg atty of higher resistance will increase the flavor in most juices.

I love the LR attys but give up some flavor as a trade off for using them..

It is impossible to tell you if HV will make things worse or better. It all depends on the juice you are using.

I always make my flavorings stronger to compensate for the LR atty..

Depends on wattage. You don't say what 510 PV you're using other than eGo. You're not supposed to use LR attys on regular 510 batts or even megas. But if you're using a true 3.7volt mod with a 1.5 ohm atty you're vaping at 9.12Watts. I've found anything over 8W starts to do away with flavor. But that same 1.5ohm atty on the eGo at 3.2-3.4volts gets you in a 7.3 to 7.7 Watt range depending on what the batt is reading, where you should be retaining flavor.

The 1.8-2.0 ohm LR cartos work well with my true 3.7v bartleby but it blows out flavor when using the 1.6 ohm cartos which work well with the eGo.

I am using an eGo with a LR and my juices taste different, for me there is alot less flavor, and if I do not keep it very wet it tastes a horrible hot metal taste which doesn't go away until about 10 drops later...nasty, but I love the TH I get with the LR, I'm still thinking about going back and dealing with the lack of TH, I can't take that taste.

Thus far, I've only hooked up an LR to the Ego battery, as I've mostly sidelined my Joye 510 batteries. I may experiment with some other flavors.

Ejuice and flavors are also a big factor. I vape some strong flavorings from Decadent Vapours - Habana Reserve, Absinthe, Real Tabs, Ylang Ylang in VG and those flavorings are more like 'doublers' than some other ejuices. The High Voltage line from Nhalers and the doublers from Tasty Vapors would also enhance the flavor. I use this chart for my mixing:

Platinum Ice 54mg - Mixing Juice-PG, PEG-400 or VG- 30ml Bottle

scroll to the bottom to the chart. You don't have to use their stuff but the blends will hold up.
