My m401/402's hit much better than my 510 megas... Isn't this backwards?

I can't figure out why for the life of me. I get a better throat hit, taste, and more vapor from the M series than I do from the 510's... I've only been vaping for a few weeks and this is really confusing to me. The 401 battery lasts just as long as the 510, not the mega of course. I got the M401 XL carts and after a simple paper clip mod (think spring mod with a paper clip skewered through the "inner" cart as the "spring") I can fit 10 drops in the carts.

After all the reading and whatnot, I figure the 510 should be better, no?

Not to mention, all 5 of my atty's work for the 401 and I have 1 good atty out of 4 for the 510. One is dead, 2 barely produce a hit and one works "OK" They're all clean and dry. No, I'm not flodding them, tried dripping 2 or 3 drops, tried new unmodded carts, tried blowing them out and starting fresh, tried cleaning then drying and starting fresh, tried hitting it slow, tried hitting it hard, tried warming the atty up then hitting it... sigh.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm getting a hellotech 016 soon, I just wish it would take my M series atty's and I can't find a 510 batt to M4xx atty adapter anyware. Cigparts.com doesn't even have one and they have everthing! They do have a m4xx batt to 510 atty connex but... That's backwards.

Will cartomizers help my 510 prob? Can I fix atty's somehow? It's absurd how much better these M series are working, I get a huge hit in 5 seconds :vapor:, with the 510 I hit till the battery is timed out and it's not enough... Double sigh... :confused:

why worry about it? you don't have to come to the same conclusions as lots of other people. i'm sticking with my 401 and did not care a bit for the 510, 801 etc
i'm dipping the atty and get great taste, vapor and th. no big deal really in switching out a battery.
for the road i'm now trying the 4081 cartos and i'm impressed but going again against conventional ecf wisdom.

Because I spent $60 on all that 510 stuff and they barely work... Plus, the mega batts are what I want to work mostly.

I can't even get the atty's to glow red from heat on the 510, not a single one. I've read they are supposed to get white hot. Why are everyone elses so great and mine sucks?

I wish I could tell you.

The only way they are going to get white hot, if they ever do, is at very high voltage.
I'm still a bit suspect that they'll ever get white hot, but I've never tried.

However, my 510s always get orange hot, which is all they need to be.

I can sit on my 3.7v Chuck with 18650 battery and my 510 will never glow more than orange.
And I actually do this every time I do a dry burn.

Then either they are wet, flooded, broken, or just plain suck.
:(

I agree, not wet, not flooded... They just suck.

Edit:

My friend has a 510 kit and his atty's don't glow at all either, he was just here... Maybe the standard batts are just not pumping the juice? Just going to have to wait for my hello 016.

I need a voltmeter. New purchase tomorrow! I'm going to be making my own mods soon so, I need one anyway.

@Deadguy:
I also started out with 401 for the look of a real cig, but immediately flooded the auto bats after 2 weeks. Upgraded to a single Tornado spare battery and mega 510 atty, best combo imho. Are you alligning the cart into the 510 atty the proper way?

If its not rotated and alligned inside near the atty bridge its going to be too much or too little airflow making the draw lousy or melty. You have to rotate it just right, theres a little oval in there that needs to line up with the oval on the cart.

@tiburonfirst:
The 510 to me was not producing any tasty, thick vapor at first either. Until I applied the CONE on my Tornado. That thing is a total game changer in terms of how vapor starts to build and taste. I bought my 510 bats 1 at a time, so I have 1 for Tornado and 1 for Riva. I bought the cone sperately too for like $3. Both are interchangeable with the 510 atty and make it last a 7 hours generally or 2.5 hours with long 13 second slow draws for hookah-like exhales when vaping agressively with no stopping like i do at bars.

Also use blue foam instead of the stock filler at just the end of your carts, no need to have the foam cut more than half way in, you can store more juice that way. I get like 14 drops in and get a good 15 mins of continuous vapin' before a refill. That one 510 atty performed better than these blank 510 cartomizers I just got in ever will. These cartos have a papery, wool taste applied onto all my juices and need too much before feeling dry again. Just my $0.02
