Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
I had to remove the center post of my Velocity because it was hiding some nasty ol machine oil under it. Sometimes, if you can, its best to take it down to the smallest part and wash it all, just a little bit of that oil can get hidden and then it`ll slowly work it way up your wicks and YECH!

Idk if it is removable

What's the atty? Can you post a pic of the 510?

YH,
Great resource here:

TL;DR
a swish of water is NOT enough.

Cheers

Agreed. We all know oil and water don't mix. Soap bonds to the oil and allows it to dissolve into water. Oils will also dissolve into alcohols but harsh alcohols can sometimes damage other parts in an atty so I don't like to use it (nor can I let good any vodka go to waste)

My preferred method is a nice soak in boiled (not boiling) water with a healthy dose of dish soap. Follow with a thorough rinsing with tap water. Dry each piece with paper towels (or micro fiber if it's a "precious") reassemble and you're good to go.

ETA: I use my electric tea kettle to heat the water and soak everything in a bowl. The entire process has most attys ready to build in a little over 30mins. Using tweezers to swish complex parts around can speed up the process

Ok thanks everyone for the responses. I just dipped a cotton ball in 70% Isopropyl alcohol and tried to clean as much as I could with all of the parts disassembled. I've let it dry for about 20 minutes now is it safe to use do you think? And the one I'm currently cleaning is my 2nd smok tfv4 tank I just got so I am unsure whether the 510 connection is removable or not

Personally I wouldn't risk it if all you did was swab it down. That's not going to be enough. As was mentioned earlier, it only takes a tiny tiny bit of machine oil to ruin the vape. Soaking is the only way to make sure every nook and cranny gets cleaned. Especially in an RTA where machine oil can be in the airflow channel, screw threads, caught under a factory installed o-ring ... the hiding places are endless

actually it depends on what type of lubricant was used during the machining process... some are water soluable, so water wash should take off most of it. But, there are oil based lubricants ( cutting fluid) that will laugh at water and persist even when soap is used... I found that those "Orange Cleaners" ( degreasers) work rather well....
