yeah, I tried tig welding a few holes in atty caps and it's not too practical, just too thin material for it to not at least warp. I do have a high end precision tig welder and do know how to use it too

the only way I can think of to do it without an issue would be to make a tight fitting plug from brass, this will act as a heat sink and a jig to maintain the shape, the weld won't stick to the brass so after the hole is welded shut you could pop the tight fitting brass plug out and have a closed hole on a cap that still fits. haven't actually went this far but I'm fairly sure that method would work, just winds up being less hassle to just replace the whole atty though
