Made in the USA

I ordered and received my electronic cigarette from Vapor4life. Two of the batteries didn't work right out of the package (right off the bat)....and a third one and the usb plug-in one....had ALL died within about a week and a half. So a week and a half later...I had NOTHING. EVERYTHING was non-functional.
Not to mention that I never received the store credit they promised me for the first faulty battery.....nor did they ever call me after I left a message as instructed.

Being extremely apprehensive, I did not want to try any of the other ones off the internet. So I went to the mall and purchased one....being sold in a kiosk there. It's called Duet. It is more expensive than the internet ones...but WELL worth the additional money.
For starters, it is made in the USA....not China (as the ones on the internet are made in China).
They will replace anything you have a problem with...all I have to do is stop by the kiosk in the mall...and pick it up. This electronic cigarette comes with a 5 year warranty. But the most important thing.....it has been working GREAT!!

If anyone is having problems with e-cigarettes bought off the internet.....try to find a replacement where you live....and made in the USA. It is well worth the additional money and let's face it....it will pay for itself quickly when you calculate how much cigarettes were costing. I consider the Vapor4life debacle as a learning experience. No more buying off the internet.....and definitely not buying any made in China.

Would have to agree that it is made in china. If they were made here in the states it would cost 5 to 10 times as much. Really hard to beat china in labor when the guy or gal putting these things together makes 8 to 12 dollars a week. There are American companies that make battery enclosers but those are considered mods. Even the batteries inside are made in china. People in the mall kiosk usually work off commission, so they are more prone to tell you what you want to hear to make a sale.

I've been seeing to many posts about particular forum suppliers that I contacted a mod for help, especially for us noobs, and because I've found the search with all of the upgrades being slow, etc. I am hoping that his helps, I'd also recommend that you print the link information out if you can;

partial quote from the mod:

"if any member is having unresolved issues with any registered supplier on the forum, they may contact our Supplier Complaint Officer, who will work to help get any issues resolved. His contact info can be found on our Contacts Page: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/contacts.html"

I am sorry you had a bad experience, that really stinks when you are trying to get into something that is so beneficial.

I would have to mirror what others have said though, I would find it 99% improbable that the unit is made in the US. I've talked to a few of those Kiosk dudes and they will say pretty much anything to get you to buy the hyper inflated prices of units, half the time with "proprietary" cartridge setups that you can't easily or cheaply get elsewhere.

I wish you luck, but I am pretty certain you did buy one made in China. I myself havent had any issues with units I have received, both mods and kr808d's happy hunting and welcome to the fold.

Thank you to everyone for letting me know that. Hehe...wait until I get a hold of the guy from the mall kiosk. I was already scolding him as I'm old enough to be his mother. And at that point, I knew exactly what I wanted...due to my experience with the first one. I cannot understand how a total of 4 out of 4 batteries did not work from an internet site (2 non-functional right out of the package, one that died within a day and one (the usb plug-in) that died after about 4 days and began to emit smoke and a burning smell...yet the ones I got at the mall kiosk are working great.

I can only report what happened to ME. I don't know anyone else in real life who is using one of these (yet).....and had gone on several forums like this one to see what people recommended. When I had such a bad experience with the first e-cigarette I ordered....I decided to not buy off the internet.

I just don't understand how one's performance is the total opposite for me (from what I'm reading here). I am not electronically savvy, but my son is. He's a MAC specialist for Apple....and even HE could not get the ones I got off the internet to work. And if he couldn't do it....there was something really wrong. I've never seen an electronic item yet that he couldn't figure out in a few minutes.

Maybe if only one had not worked. I am a very easy-to-get-along-with customer. I was quite nice to them when I contacted them to tell them that the first one didn't work. What's really unfortunate...is that the e-cigarette itself worked great (the 2 that worked...but only for several days). It was very enjoyable to use and I was able to quit a 36 year habit with no problem. Then one by one, the batteries either did not work or began to malfunction in several days. I had to cold turkey it until I could get the replacement at the mall.

They also had a HUGE selection of flavors.....but let's face it, without any functioning batteries, they're useless. I'm sure different people have different experiences...but due to MY experience....my top priority was to find one that had long-lasting batteries....like a car that doesn't need a lot of maintenance. Some like to work on cars so their priorities might be different.
Because the first experience was bad (internet) and the second one has been great (mall kiosk)....I am thrilled with the second one.....even though I'm seeing lots of criticism of the ones sold in mall kiosks when reading here. I can't understand why my two experiences were the total opposite of most of what I'm reading on forums. Very, very puzzling.

The guy at the mall really didn't have to sell it to me....and I think he was well aware of that...and that I'd also used one already so was not a total newbie to them. I had already made up my mind before I went there...and the 5 year warranty clinched it for me and also the fact that I can just hop over to the nearby mall to get anything replaced if it malfunctions or to buy additional supplies. I just like the idea that I can actually GO to the vendor if I encounter any problems....and this particular vendor/kiosk has been at the mall for several years already. The price wasn't all that big a deal to me...because when you factor in the cost of cigarettes, you are still saving a small fortune....and my health is worth a small fortune to me also. I love this e-cigarette. It's a great concept and has made it almost painless for me to quit a pretty heavy habit. I'd had a bad internet experience...BUT I'd learned that I HAD to find one that worked properly....because I learned just how much they work to help quit smoking. Once I experienced this for myself....I was determined to find one that worked well.

Only thing i can think of is it must have been a bad batch of batteries. It happens even with the best brand out there. Although you will see it alot less with the better brand there still is a certain% of products that get past quality control. I wouldn't let one bad experience turn you off from getting things online. I think what happened to you is pretty rare. You can always try another vendor that is highly rated.

I can't understand why my two experiences were the total opposite of most of what I'm reading on forums. Very, very puzzling.

There are of course exceptions to every rule. BUt you only tried one internet supplier and honestly it isnt fair to judge them all based on that one experience. I have seen several postings of people having issues with vape4life, orders getting messed up, not receiving items or the items not working so i choose one of the suppliers I heard nothing but good things about, cignot.com. So far so good! I also bought some accessories from another online company i heard nothing but good things about, freedomsmokeusa.com, I will probably receive my order from them tomorrow but so far the communication has been awesome, as we exchanged several emails. Hopefully that Kiosk will still be there when you need them, i know those Kiosk tend to disappear after the Christmas shopping season.

I'm sure that there are some internet vendors who sell a reliable product....and if they only cost 10-20 bucks, I'd try them all out...but they're rather pricey, though not nearly as expensive as my one and a half pack a day habit. Plus I take care of my elderly father..which is stressful enough as it is....but quitting smoking and then having all your batteries die on you within about a week and a half......well, I just did not want that to happen again.

I did read quite a few very good reviews of vapor4life...on this and on many other forums. I'll have to keep reading in order to find posts regarding problems with them.
For me....this is simply a way to quit smoking cigarettes. I'm not becoming a connoisseur of electronic cigarettes....though I can see where many would want to use them specifically for a new type of enjoyment. But I'm not demanding at all. My only requirement was that they work and that they feel close enough to real smoking so I could finally quit this long habit (I figured it out and have been smoking for almost 40 years). I just wanted a substitute to help me with quitting....and for that, these e-cigarettes are fantastic, IMO. I've been truly psychologically addicted to the act of smoking all these years.....but this is doing the trick for me.

It's funny....I actually DID tell the vendor that I felt like I was being sent batteries from a "bad batch"....as that's what it felt like to me.

I also offered to send all the faulty ones back so they could check them out themselves...in case they doubted my claims. I honestly could not believe it...all FOUR of them?? You have to admit that it was a pretty disappointing experience.
And BTW....in case anyone is using that brand (vapor4life)....I have a bunch of unused cartridges (the cartomizer type) I'd be happy to send to anyone who can use them....because they are no good to me now (they are not compatible with the batteries I'm currently using).

Oh...and also, that particular vendor has been in this mall for several years already. I had actually checked them out a few years ago. My son told me to go and get one from the mall since the vendor has been there so long.

Well, if that was your experience, ok.

But I bought my kit, online, for $35.

It happens to have been the same kit that Vapor4Life sells, only generic (which is why it was cheaper). The general model is called the Kr808D-1. Same thing Vapor4Life sells.

I have never had a battery fail. I still have cartomizers from my original kit that are working well, even after being washed several time.

It has been exceptionally reliable for me.

And so has the Joye 510 I got later, which is another model that is mostly sold online.

I would totally understand why with your experience you might try elsewhere, and be willing to spend more.

But, although Vapor4Life has a good reputation over the long haul, they appear to be having a LOT of issues lately. And there are places where the Kr808D-1 can be bought for cheaper.

I always research vendors before I buy, and I buy generic, unbranded models to save money. Works for me.

So, when you need parts in the future (and you will), you can find out what model you have, and find a vendor to get them from for cheaper. Some vendors are very reliable.

First let me say Welcome to the forum! :) And BIG congrats on being able to kick a heavy analog habit!

It's great that you're having a lot of luck with and enjoying the kiosk kit ...and too bad about the internet batteries problem. However, I think those issues are more the exception than the rule. Malls in my area do not have kit vendor kiosks so I have no choice but to purchase them online. I have only had a problem once or twice so far and they were resolved very quickly and to my satisfaction. My experience has been very positive. Sorry to hear yours has not.

But at some point you may want to upgrade the kit you are currently using and may need to turn to an internet supplier... so don't swear them off just yet! Next time you should have a much better experience.

Good luck to you :)

Understand the wanting for a good e-cig and the problems you are good thru with the one vendor, but don't give up on the internet ones. I'v have 1 battery and atty that quite working - replaced with a email to the vendor and they shipped them before I shipped the bad parts back, good service and I will order from them again. I would really question your 5 year warranty, I know for sure your batteries and atty's will not last 5 years, are you sure they are covered? The carts and battery should last a long time, but the other 2 items most likely will not. Like a car warranty, every thing is covered except...add the list of fair ware items that are not covered...

Welcome! Like everyone here, I'm really sorry to hear about your bad experience with the one online supplier you've dealt with. It is a rare thing, I've found, to experience the problems you have, especially without a satisfactory resolution. All of my hardware and liquids are from suppliers that are regularly discussed here on ECF, many based in China, and I've had no negative experiences. The products have always been as described, and the service, overall, has been great. Many people here are anti-kiosk, and with good reason, but, if you've found a kiosk supplier that gives you a good product and service, stick with it. The most important thing is that you are now vaping instead of smoking.....

welcome to ECF!!! sorry to hear about your bad experience. the world is imperfect and sometimes you get a bad kit. the difference is the supplier. i got a 901 kit that had a bad battery once. my supplier replaced it. inconvenient but not tragic. ask people on the forum who they like and they'll tell you. none of the suppliers that are sanctioned by the forum would last if they were shoddy. bad news travels very fast. happy vaping!!!

Welcome aboard and congrats on your e cig success...no more stinkies, yay! It's great that you found a place close to home to purchase what works for you, I would love that opportunity, lol! It would be great to hop in the car and drive to a mall to get an atomizer or batt if one of mine went kaplooey. I actually kind of miss stopping at the store to purchase cigarettes, it was a habit just like the rest...I'll drive by my local market and have a sudden urge to pull in, then realize I have nothing to purchase, lol!
Anyways, I have had nothing but great experiences purchasing online. When I have had an issue with a bad battery, it was replaced, no questions asked. The important thing is that you purchase with a decent warranty and many online vendors have great ones. I purchased a Riva kit a while back, it was a great price, like $50 and the 2 batts died back to back....I'm sure it was a bad atomizer that killed them :(. I contacted the vendor and they sent out the replacement parts that same day and without my having to send them back and them receiving first.....That's great customer service!
Until I have a nice little place near my home that carries my PV of choice, I will gladly purchase from online vendors....they are a wonderful bunch of people :).
