Got an order in yesterday that included a kayfun lite v2 and Magma dripper atties along with some supplies (ohm reader, wire, wicking materials).

My first attempt at a coil on the kayfun didn't work out too well so I then tried one on the Magma. The coil I built for the Magma was quite nice but I then found out that the ventilation holes were all gunked up with crud (my guess from manufacturing) so I wasn't able to use it. It's currently soaking in hopes of getting those vents cleared up.

I then gave a second try at building a coil on the kayfun and succeeded! The resistance is considerably higher than I was aiming for. Ended up with just about 3 ohms and I was aiming for a bit under 2. It works great though so I'm quite happy.

I never thought I'd enjoy building this stuff but it's quite fun and I can't wait to explore different builds :) I just may attempt a double coil build soon!

Thanks for all the great info ECF!

Congrats on the build, and you'll love both the Magma and Kayfun... I still use both of mine quite regularly.
You'll find a lot (if not all) clones have that problem with oil, metal shavings, or other remnants left behind in them..... I've found a good long bath in Dawn and hot water followed by pushing water through every opening with a 10cc syringe and blunt needle (both with and without soapy water) usually takes care of it. Compressed air help too if you have a compressor and blow gun ;)
Your hooked now! After those first few coils, you'll constantly be looking for ways to perfect your builds, and seeking new ways to build.
Next stop..... DIY MODING and/or DIY eliquid:D

Sweet choice on the two. If you need guidance on building on the Kayfun, check this link out:

It's for the Kayfun nano but the build deck is the same. I'd give you advice on the Magma, but mine was returned due to a defective 510 pin.

Congratulations! I also love this new hobby. I got frequently discouraged by guys suggesting to order material instead of building it myself ... a certain pre-assumption that I couldn't possibly want to do it (or succeed). gender stereotypes played a role. Now, for me, it feels satisfying and cool to build all sorts of little electronic stuff myself, and not have to immediately excel at it only to prove stereotypes wrong. yay!
