Yes, it does say that in the description below. Perhaps it's a wrong assumption on my part. Why does the title of the item say "Dual Coil 510 Chrome tank Cartomizer"?

Maybe they are chrome plated aluminum? I have also seen them referred to as chrome plated and chrome finish.

Maybe MV had them made especially for them. Personally, I would not be using aluminum unless it was annodized, and just about anything plated will eventually wear off. Just my .02.

Saw somewhere here on the forum that they added polished aluminum to the description. Guess they thought they better clarify the material these things are made of. Thinking I better study up on aluminum from what some of you folks are saying!

Vaporgod calls the exact same Smoktech tank "stainless steel".

Here: Smoktech DCT Tank 6ml Stainless Steel
They have both sizes as well.

I almost ordered it until I realized it's the exact same tank Madvapes and others are offering (all for similar low prices). There was discussion of this tank in the Provari forum, and we raised similar concerns about them being aluminum (from the Madvapes description) there. It doesn't look like stainless to me, unless it's very highly-polished. It also doesn't look like any polished aluminum I've ever seen. It looks like chrome plating, which as my4jewels pointed out, will eventually wear off.

One of my concerns is that aluminum absorbed by the body may put you at higher risk for Alzheimer's. Since it runs in Hubby's family, it is a concern for us. You can google aluminum toxicity.

Also, some studies point to liver and kidney problems. No studies have proven conclusive, but, if I have a choice, I'll stay away from it. Anodized aluminum, from what I understand. Aluminum drip tips are anodized.

I am not a medical professional by any means.

K, I'm not gonna comment on the whole "aluminum" thing, but I just got 2 of these tanks in, and OMG Becky! These are awesome!!!! I'm running the 2 ohm dual coil cart that came with it and I'm damned impressed! I'm using these on my original Buzz VV. Set right at 4 volts. Set it up in about 1 minute, gave it about 5 minutes to soak the carto and BAM!!!! Awesome TH, good vapor, I'm in heaven. I was really concerned after reading all the neg-post stuff about these cartos tasting burnt but this is amazing. I'm using 80/20 tastyvapor peach/vanilla blend 24mg/ml and damn and a half I'm hooked (again).

I didn't mean to get all "preachy" about the metal endcaps. We're all grownups here, and we all make our own choices. Moving on, I also really like these tanks. I have a bunch with delrin endcaps, and more on the way.

understandable BUT...isn't that a big part of why ECF is here? A place where someone brand new to the world of Vaping can come and get plenty of advice on what's safe/not safe, what's a bad product/good product before they buy...my only problem is someone needs to have a nice talk with MadVapes about these tanks, because we have some people here informing new Vapors that the Aluminum end caps are safe and some informing new Vapors to stay away from them because they could be harmful...I think we need to get the facts straight about these before giving any advice to someone new to this world.

I am in the midst of a coop from Smoktech. I just emailed my sales rep asking for exactly what metal/metal combination is used in the metal endcaps on the DCTanks.

thank you jewels...hopefully now we will all now know what goes into making those caps and we can accurately give advice on them..

That would be a really nice piece of information to have. I wonder if he'll get an honest answer from a Chinese manufacturer, though. They seem to tend to tell people whatever they want to hear.

I'm absolutely in the market for a tank with stainless caps, but the prices vendors are asking seem a bit high for two machined caps, some o-rings and a piece of polycarbonate tube.

The end caps are not polished, they are chrome plated. I can see tiny surface imperfections on mine. They would not be there if the caps were polished, as the polishing process would remove them. The end caps are a non-ferrous metal. Meaning, does not contain iron in appreciable amounts. Non-magnetic. Aluminum could still be the base material. I am not overly concerned about the safety of these caps. If I do ever see that the chrome plating is coming off, I would probably discard them. Just my 2 cents.

Guess that would explain why MV uses the words chrome and aluminum both. They could be a little clearer in their description!

I got my response from the Smoktech sales rep.

I asked, "Could you please tell me exactly what metal is used for the metal endcaps.
Some other vendors say aluminum, some say stainless steel, some say chrome plated. If it’s chrome plated, what is underneath the chrome?"

She replied, "It's aluminum for the mental endcaps indeed, thanks for inquiry."

Yeah, those endcaps seemed kind of mental to me.

So, chrome-plated aluminum.

Thanks for taking the initiative to email them. I think (and this is solely my opinion) I'll avoid them. I'd rather spend a bit more on stainless steel.
