Great little unit. I love the fact that it has a 510 connection. The 14500 batteries also have quite a punch to them. I purchased the 2xAA Assembled Box mod Kit from MadVapes for about $45.99. I was quite impressed with the value and the amount of stuff that came with it. It came with the box mod, 2 ultrafire 900mah 14500 batteries, a charger, 5 pack of cartomizers, 2 blank round carts, and one 510 regular resistance atomizer. I love the fact that it has an on/off switch on it which makes it extremely pocket friendly. I am looking for other peoples opinions about the unit and if you have one, tell me your story with it.

I bought a basic assembled boxmod back in about December for about $23.99. They're great little units for the price. Sadly I dropped it and it didn't survive. To replace it I bought one in kit form so I could assemble it. For $8.99 you can buy the kit and a soldering iron and still come out ahead. I didn't bother putting in the resistor or led since I don't care about the light anyway and it only took about 1/2 an hour to assemble. I just filled in the extra holes with epoxy. This one's still going strong. Then I bought 3 more kits to have on hand for backups. Yeah, for the price they just can't be beat. Just don't drop 'em onto concrete and they'll serve you well.

Ace of Vapes has a variant of this, a AA box mod with the same 5 amp horn switch; the big difference is it includes a USB charger built into the unit, allowing the mod to double as a USB passthrough and also charge the battery on its own. It includes a battery and it's around $30, and I believe they use MadVapes as their parts supplier.

I've owned both of these units, and both have been solid performers . . . but they aren't overly sturdy. The reason I purchased the Ace of Vapes Hotbox is that my AA mod from Madvapes took a few knocks, and the center pin for the 510 connection became recessed just enough that it required adding a sliver of tin foil to make the connection with the atty. I've still got it as a backup in case of dire need, but whichever version you get, handle with care.

I haven't ever bought one of the preassembled 2xAA boxmods, but I've done several nicosticks from scratch with parts from MadVapes. So long as you're willing to drill your own holes in the box you can purchase all the parts (box, LED, resistor, 510 connector, horn switch) for less than $6.

Also, by drilling your own holes you can put the horn switch right up next to the 510 connector. This will leave enough room inside the box for an extra cartomizer.

I've been using nothing but the nicostick (MadVapes 2xAA box is a nicostick) for about 3 months. It's tougher than I expected it to be. Even if it breaks tomorrow I still feel that I've gotten more than my money's worth out of it.
