It can take a couple of days at room temp for a carto to completely dry out. If it is still damp inside anything you add to it will be greatly reduced in flavor and vapor. Also, keep in mind a dry carto should hold about 30 drops. If you can't get that much in it then it was still wet from the cleaning.

Okay, that makes more sense. Cartos can take a day or two to dry out after cleaning unless you want to chance drying them in the oven. I've never done that, so I can't tell you how, but wet cartos don't work well. They have to be dried out thoroughly.

Regarding the carto with the burnt taste; if you filled this yourself, did you let it sit for a few minutes after you filled it? If it wasn't allowed to sit or if it wasn't filled all the way then that can make for a burnt taste. Usually burnt cartos can't be saved.

Does rinsing them in just hot water thoroughly clean the poly batting stuff inside to get rid of the previous flavor vaped?

Depends on the juice. Thick, sweet verses thin clear. Dark colored vs light colored. Heavy flavors verses light flavors. Menthol or cinnamon verses a light tobacco flavor. Heavy sweet juices tend to leave a deposit inside the filler and caramelize over the coil. Light juices wick right through and foul the coil less. I always suck on the battery end of the carto when i wash them to see if I can taste any residual flavor. If I do, I clean some more. I do 4 or 5 at once by bunching them together with a rubber band and just let hot tap water run throuth them for a while.
