Hey yall,
I am kind of new to this and I have a maganus sv tank that I like to run around 50w but my coils only last for 3-4 days before it tastes burnt. I can get rid of the burnt taste by lowering the wattage to the 30's and it will last for a couple more days but I just don't like the flavor there. I have used the .5 and .2 coils and this happens with both of them. I super soak them with juice before using them and I take the first couple of hits at a low wattage before turning it up with a new coil. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there a different coil I can get that will last longer?

Coils are wear parts, it's normal for them to go out, but 3 days seems short. That thing is supposed to he a 150W tank, this makes me wonder if higher watts, rather than lower, would help. You say they last longer at 30, though, so maybe not. Offhand, I suspect you have a juice issue, very sweet, dark colors and high VG can all slow wicking, and thus lead to burnt coils. What juice are you using? PG/VG ratio, is it sweet, what color is it?

I use max vg liquids, full steam and atmosphere, they are pretty sweet (fruity flavors) and they are all clear.
It may be the sweet that's killing you. Here's a coil I took out (of an RTA) yesterday. I left it in far too long, and built coils last a lot longer than prebuilt anyway, but you'll get the idea. When they plug up, you have a problem. If you want to use max VG and sweet juices-- nothing wrong with that, I do-- you may wish to consider RTAs.

I was told there aren't RTAs for the maganus?

Perfectly correct. I think you mean a RBA base, though. An RTA is "rebuildable tank atomizer" and it accepts no prefab coils at all; the coils must be built with wire and wick. A RBA base is something that screws in to a prefab coil tank, upon which a wire and wick coil assembly can be built and, AFAIK, the Maganus has none. When I suggested you look at an RTA, I meant replace your tank. I suggested it because built coils last longer than prefab, are much cheaper, and far easier to do in an RTA than on an RBA base for a coil tank. Just a thought, you don't have to. There's a learning curve, like everything, and some minimal tools are required, but once you get it building is easy to do. And cheap! Ten bucks worth of wire and wick is a year's supply.

Ohhh OK yeah that is what I meant. So do you mean a different brand of tank? BTW thank you for all the info!

I do. There are a number of excellent ones to choose from. My current favorite is the Boreas, but it is 25mm diameter.
+1

the boreas is an EXCEPTIONAL RDTA/ RTA - and super versatile - comes with two different decks (different sized wicking holes/ juice flow holes to suit your vaping style/ preferences) easy to build on and vapes like a little train - have a pair of them and LURVE em!

So I just got back from the store and I ended up getting a Griffin tank because they didn't have the one you are talking about. So far I like it. I definitely need to find another store that has more options so I can find the one you are talking about though. Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it since I don't really know what I am talking about yet.
