Magma RDA Leak Fix

Thanks Glad to be here. I've been vaping for a while and have started make vids on how to solve some issues with some parts of vaping. The leak i have noticed is more the way it locks the afc ring but the modified deck helps with any additional liquid. I may make a vid on a quick fix for stopping the afc ring spinning when taking top cap off changing your airflow setting.

Hi, BuddyG!

Is your Magma a clone or authentic? I do have an o-ring on mine also, but it sits behind the afc ring. Yours looks to be above it so that the top cap doesn't appear to screw down all the way. I didn't have leaking from the airhole itself. Mine was the condensation dripping behind the afc ring. The o-ring alone fixed my issue. An interesting modification though. Thanks for sharing.

Mine is a clone. I wouldn't attempt it with an authentic as its easy to screw up. Because the liquid also sits in the top cap thread and works its way down via thread into the base thread and into afc ring. The groove does eliminate any liquid via air hole and o ring stops liquid via thread. If you remove the afc ring and put the top cap on screw it right down you will notice that the afc ring is a quite a bit bigger than the gap left after completely screwing down top cap

Thanks for the reply. I meant that your o-ring is visible when you screwed the top cap on in your video. My o-ring fits completely in the 'groove' beneath the threads and is hidden by the afc ring. It may just be a difference in your clone or size of o-ring.

Mine does have the groove but I didn't have any o rings thin enough to sit behind afc ring. I may get some as that may help my afc ring hold its air flow setting without spinning when the top cap is taken off, I may still use the 2nd o ring as it keeps any liquid getting to the afc ring. I used an extra o-ring from my KFL and it worked like a charm!

Tried that and even with e juice as lube its was cutting into o ring when putting afc ring.

I'd love to modify my Magma in the way that you did but really don't have the proper tools or steady hands.

How's it working for you? Have you corrected the leak issue by grinding those channels?

Good stuff, I thought ages ago about modding mine after seeing someone on fasttech doing this to theirs...


It is getting closer to looking like a two post version of the Viking RDA (which I would like to have).

With both mods it has sorted out the issue. All it needs now is a drip tip which completely closes and I would be able to turn it upside down. I going to mod another when it arrives and make channels go just above the height of the horizontal air hole.

The only reason my authentic magma leaks is if I over fill it or tilt it too much when it is filled. I would never take an electrical tool to this great device.

My clone magma now doesn't leak when its tilted, and any device will leak if over filled. My vid is to show a design fault. I great device could have been made greater.

Great idea for modding the Magma ! I've had this problem since day 1. Love the vape hate the spillage, carrying it in my pocket is a dangerous game. Although I might just look into the Veritas clone....

Thanks. Yes the Veritas is mean't to be good but anymore than 10 drops it will come out the air hole. I have seen Rip's Vid on it. Its good to see new designs but they need to work on better ideas for airflow. I'm not a designer but I've purchased a graphics tablet as I have new idea's on how rda's could or should be designed. I just have to learn how to use it and find software so I'm able to make engineering drawings.

Only time either of my Magmas leak is if it's over filled or it's tipped when filled to the brim. Removed the ac ring months ago, when dipping below 0.18, it's just added weight

ummm, am pretty good at coil wrapping, use an Artistic wire coiling gizmo and tension wrap purrfect coils every time Your really should check out the Micro Coil build thread, what you are talking about has likely been done a few time already, here at the ecf.
