Magma RDA, works okay for me, but I've seen it work better for others.

well i just got my cloupor T5 50w mod in the mail today, and i gotta say, its freakin impressive! granted its my first mod besides a vision spinner v2

i bought a magma RDA before i even ordered the cloupor.

i stopped by a vape shop with some very knowledgable enthusiasts to ask them about how i should build it. i ended up walking out with some organic cotton and 28g kanthal.

my first build was a dual microcoil with the 28g with 6 wraps each. (.5 ohm)

i had it done before my T5 got here. so today when i got my mod in the mail i grabbed some juice and went to town (figuratively speaking. lol)

i was researching the best builds for this rda, and found that it supposedly has a sweet spot between .8-1.1 ohm. most guys are running a single coil (from what I've found).

i seen a youtube vid by rip drippers, where he reviewed the magma, he had a build on it that was a single coil 28g kanthal (1.2 ohm) 8-9wrap (he didn't say) but he showed it.... but come to think of it, all of his vids are chopped to shorten them, and he never showed it and then vaped it in the same frame.

he had the build on a sigelei 20w and was only vaping at 15w.

that thing was throwing the clouds! he never showed how he wicked it. although from watching enough of his builds i would assume he used cotton.

it may be the juice I'm using... I've tried 6 different ones, highest vg being 50% and lowest being 30%.

I've tried about 7-8 different coil set ups today, just tinkering:

single coil twisted 28g kanthal wrapped at 3.5mm 6 wraps. it was .4 ohm

single microcoil 28g 9wraps 1.3 ohm

dual microcoil 28g 6 wraps .7 ohm

i am currently running a dual coil wrapped around a toothpick. lol it was slightly smaller than 3mm 10 wraps each at .8 ohm

after doing all of this, i just CANNOT get the vapor product that rip droppers does. i get amazing flavor, but i just can't seen to get that dense fog vapor exhale that want se badly. it doesn't need to be cloud chaser level, i realize this is not the right mod for that, but how the heck is that guy blowing out vapor that thick?!!!!

ohh, and I've played with the wattage from 9watts to 30. not much difference besides the heat... I've not got much experience with RDA's. just so you all know. you mayve been able to guess from the content above... lol

I have one Magma set up with a single coil at 1.5Ω. I used a 5/64" drill bit and gave it 10 wraps with 28 ga. Kanthal. This works great on my VS rDNA with 50/50 Gremlin's Vanilla Custard. Excellent flavor and tons of vapor at 17 to 22 watts.

I like the single coil set-up better than my 0.6Ω, 2x coil set-up, which I use on a mech. Personally, I think the Magma is better with a single coil, unlike some of my other RDAs.

I did a similar build today 9wraps instead of 10, and 1.3 ohm instead of 1.5. Didn't work that well for me. I think I'm going to get some different g kanthal at some point, try some stuff with that, but its got to be the juice. I've done a few mouth hits no inhale and it throws the vape pretty good.

It seems this type of juice are recommended for denser clouds Teleos - Cloud Science I just ordered Gamma and Betta should be here in few days. I ordered just to try the flavors( don't care about big clouds) I just liked the fact that they were 2.5 MG nic and the flavors seem right up my alley.

I've actually got my eye on some juice at a local vape shop. they just got their new dripping line in. there is 6 flavors and i tried one, strawberry and vanilla custard.... errrrr mahhhhhhhh gerddddddd! lol it was heavenly! and they also had a blue raspberry cotton candy. the girl working there said it was amazing too, sounded good. i think their 80% vg

NOT UNDERSTANDING the issue?

You see a guy Vaping his Preferred Cloud making E-liquids on camera with perfect lighting and can't copy it?
You Don't need to fix the Magma, you need a Studio :D

I have run my Magma at 1.4 single and loved the performance. Good Vapor and Excellent Flavor.
Right now, I am running 28ga. Dual Coils @.78/Cotton about 3mm off the Deck.
Largest Holes gives excellent Vapor - Not Massive clouds, but I'm 60y.o. and 120lbs. of tired old guy. For me, 6-7 seconds is intense.
Flavor is good.

Second Air holes - Vapor is slightly diminished but Flavor almost doubles. I generally Vape for flavor.
Your mix will make a Huge difference - even with the same pg/vg ratios. For some reason certain flavors tend to kill Vapor while others greatly enhance the Vapor production.
I DIY and have had opportunity to play around with this.

Wicking is also critical. If your wick is not sucking up the liquid, you have nothing to Vaporize. The higher the VG the more critical wicking becomes.

Have Fun!

Edit: Should have mentioned - this is on my Nemesis in 18350 mode.

^this^

I've heard Grimm Green mention this before, the clouds always look bigger on camera.

I usually do 2mm microcoils. My current setup is dual parallel 30 gauge, 7 wraps at 0.5 ohms, between 32 to 36 watts. I've also had good results with just dual 28 gauge at 0.7 ohms. The other thing you should make sure is that the coils aren't sitting too high off the air holes. They should be about 2mm up from each hole.

Well I hope it's not all smoke and mirrors... It needs to push a bit more IMO.

No, it really doesn't need to be "pushed" more. As others have said, Youtube videos are highly deceptive, lighting plays a big part in how thick clouds look. If Rip only needs 15 watts to get those clouds, that should tell you something. Juice, airflow, and lungs play a bigger part in vapor production than any particular builds. I genuinely believe (and have experienced) that a coil is just a coil, it doesn't matter what you put, the thing just heats up and vaporizes liquid. A single micro coil at 15 watts anyone can get the same effect. You just need juice that produces a lot of vapor, and figure out a good inhale/exhale technique. Yes, exhale technique also adds to the illusion.

Frankly though, if all you're searching for is clouds, I really don't think the Magma was the right choice. Even as Rip said in his video, the Magma is made for flavor and convenience. If you're looking for massive billowing clouds, something with greater airflow would have been a better choice.

I built by far the best build I have done yet. I'm happy with it. Just need some drip fluid now instead of this high PG stuff. But the build is dual micro coil, 12 wraps each. And I did the dragon wraps with cotton. Heats up almost instantaneously, great production for 2 second drag or 10 second drag. It doesn't get too hot and no singed cotton so far. And I've taken a couple monster hits. And I realize the magma tank is a flavor tank, I was only saying I seem the same tank with same build and current thru it outdo mine by 2x. And I didn't understand why.
oh and running on .9 ohm and 20w

i always take a mod and a bottle of liquid with me and set it in the medicine cabinet when i shower. take a few big draws when i get out of the shower and it is incredible how dense the vapor is. i have done it outside right after a rain when the wind was still also. high humidity and the vapor doesn't disperse as quickly. RIP worthy. 100% pharma grade VG with 20% distilled water helps a lot too.

My current set up is dual 28 gauge at 0.7. Dual 28 at 0.5 was better. Next build I was thinking of is a dual parallel 30 gauge.

Hello, future me.
