I'm sure this is fine but just wanted to check. Can I put 10 x 0.5mm neodymium magnets on the negative of my battery to save it from some dreaded indentation?
I don't over tighten anymore, just enough for contact but if I hold the battery a certain way I can still see the pressure marks.
I know some mods are made this way so I assume it's cool to put magnets? BTW can I still use a safety fuse after the magnet on the mod? Thanks

Although this practice is considered to be controversial, using magnets on batteries is "not recommended" as this is an unsafe battery practice.

In the event the mech might receive a hard hit or shock, the magnet, if laterally unsupported, can shift sideways and provide you with a (highly undesirable) hard short.

In fact, Provape stated that using magnets on flat top batteries to allow them to work in the Provari would void their warranty because this was considered to be an unsafe battery practice. (The Provari would only accept button-top batteries.)

If your batteries are becoming indented by your mod, then using magnets as spacers is not going to cure your problem, it will only add more length to your batteries.

Thanks baditude. Is there anything that you would recommend then? Also, the one battery that has a slight indentation is so slight it's barely noticeable. Can't see or feel it. Only if I hold it in the light I can see it reflecting in a way which suggests slight difference in the metal. I hope this one is still ok. After my over tightening and stupid games I've replaced like 6 today. Thanks @Baditude

My recommendation is to continue to use the fuse in your mod. Don't be paranoid about whether its working or not, some things we have to take for granted.

Strongly consider finding a machinist with a drill press, and have him drill a couple of holes in the top of your mech, strategically placed where the top of the battery lies in your mod. Two 2 mm holes should be sufficient for venting.

Continue to inspect your batteries for indentation and intact insulation wrappers. Small shallow indentations are probably insignificant. Any holes or tears in the insulation, the battery should be re-wrapped.

Cheers Baditude. Cool. I do continue to use the fuse, a little unsure as to whether it works but hey ho. I would like to use a safety fuse as well when I'm using higher builds but it makes things too tight. I have the Gus kiss telescopic as well but I don't really like it as much when not in 18350 mode. It doesn't hold and again I worry about denting, when using the fuse. Also I do not fancy my machinist friend drilling this kiss v2. It's so beautiful I cannot bare the holes...
Fair enough with standard tubes but you can easily blow around this battery. I know it can swell but with correct working fuses I don't really have to worry bout shorts and venting.

electrical current thru a neo magnet has the capacity to reduce its magnetic properties...

They also are not good conductors. Unless you are buying neo magnets with a coating made specifically for electrical conduction purposes (and they aren't cheap or commonly available.) The cheapo neo magnets only have a thin coating and many times the coating is tin or nickel. The primary point of that coating is to prevent the neo magnet from being exposed to oxygen, corroding and consequently disintegrating. It's shiny pretty - but most of the coatings on neo magnets are never intended to be high amp current conductors like we use them.
