Hey there, I'm relatively new to mech mods, and I had a question about my batteries. I've got Vamped IMR 18650 2000 MAH, 40 amp high drain batteries and a nicecore digital charger. When I put my battery on the charger the reading for the MAH on my battery keeps jumping up and down. I have no idea what this means, and I was hoping somebody would be able to help me out. Thanks!

When I let it, my D4 starts at 750 then cuts to 375 from about 4v to 4.2v It doesn't jump around between the readings though.

I usually charge all my batteries on the slow charge mode anyway, it's better for them according to most articles I have read.

OP, have you noticed any difference in performance in that one battery?

I just checked and the nitecore D4 only cycles between 750, 375, 300 and 150 mAh.

Displayed charger currents (They will slowly reduce when entering CV phase of a LiIon charge):
750mA: The charge circuit is only charging one battery.
375mA: The charge circuit time sharing between two batteries.
300mA: The charge circuit is in low current mode and only charging one battery.
150mA: The charge circuit is in low current mode and time sharing between two batteries.

So I am not sure where the 500mAh that yours is displaying comes from. Has it done this before, is it a new charger to you - is it covered under warranty still?

It's all a bit weird to me, does it by any chance recognize the battery as a LiFePO4 and have that indicator lit in the display when charging?

If you put it in low mode does that make a difference? (hit slot button to select the slot and then press and hold the mode)

Sorry I should have specified that I have the nitecore d2. It doesnt have a low mode. It reconizes it as a li-ion.

I think it does vappindaddy. - it should have a slot and a mode switch even if it's a D2. I just wondered if it would jump around using that mode as well. If so, it suggests something is wrong with the battery or at least how the charger is recognizing it.

I'm just throwing stuff out there really, no big deal but it's piqued my curiosity why your charger is doing this.

Ive been using the battery today and popped it back on the charger and now I'm getting a steady mah reading. Maybe I just had a bad connection before?

I suppose so - giving all the contacts on your charger (and your batteries) a good clean with a q-tip and some alcohol can't hurt any.

I'm glad it sorted itself out though - interesting issue. Please post up if it does it again, I'd be interested to see why it happened in the first place.

The D2 is 500 and the D4 is 750x2 or 375x4. Cant pick the charge rate on the D2.

OP hadn't stated it was a D2 when I posted that Jockamo. Also I posted the link to the manual where it states you can select the charge rate. Maybe there are two models or something and some you can and some you can't. Weird.

Are you able to change the charge rate with your D4? If so how? I didn't see it in the manual for my D2.
Edit. I see you post now pointing to low mode.

It appears to drop the rate to 300mA. I don't see any other adjustments. I missed that one though.

Cool, thanks for checking and posting up the info.

I was originally asking for the OP to change into low mode so we could see if the mA jumped around in that mode as well - but the OP no longer has the issue.

Well, we all learned something here so it's all good :vapor:
