oh wow! .thanks! I'd like to try that. .I have some nut flavors which I *love*, but always need to add a fruit flavor to sweeten them, it'd be nice to be able to simply sweeten them and enjoy their rich flavors.

thanks for the link, Guineahill, this might just solve some other DIY mixing issues I was having, 'course, when I buy the EM, I'll HAVE to try some of their flavorings too. lol. .(Got to get paid and pay the bills first, ha, so I know what I have to spend, might be awhile before I can afford anything, kinda tight right now, hubby said, 'no more' for awhile but: 'maybe I NEED to sweeten my flavors', .*sniff* puff, puff! lol, <jk>, )

LOL - I understand how sometimes these things need to wait. I think I have three or four orders set up at various places... but I don't have the money to click 'buy' yet. Darn all those other bills and whatnot!

Can someone instruct on the use of Ethyl Maltol? I just received some in powdered/crystal form and unsure how to get it into solution. Tried mixing with both alcohol and water and the EM is not soluble in either!

I dissolve mine in high proof vodka.

I just add about a 1/4 tsp crystals to a ten ml bottle, fill with vodka, and let it set for a while. You can heat it to speed it up. If you have a bit too much in there it won't all dissolve. But that's okay... just use a pipette or dropper to remove the liquid and add more crystals and vodka to make the next batch.

I have read that it will dissolve in PG but I haven't tried that yet. Maybe this weekend.

Okay... I dissolved Ethyl Maltol in PG this weekend. I put in around a quarter of a teaspoon and added about 10 ml PG. I picked up the bottle this evening and it was all dissolved. Easy peasy!
