Ok I know the math, no calculators needed or any of that stuff. Just thinking about how much I will use in the short term. And thinking a premix might be in order to go ahead and get it down in strength and in a easily dose adjustable mg/ml ratio.

Wondering if you old timers take your strong nic base like mine at 100mg/ml and make small premix to use when making your juices instead of going back to the strong stuff every time.

I am shooting for only 3mg target nic in my finished juice. I don't but 3 mls a day maybe 4 at times. My thought is to just go ahead and make a 10ml batch of nic base cut down to 30mg/ml so I can then add a simple 1ml of this to any recipe for my nic content in a 10ml bottle. 3X for 30ml you get the gist.

Is this how you do it when you have a large volume of high mg nic base? I know in manufacturing we would make small lots of premixes for future use just to make to formulations easier. Thinking the same would apply here and I can just keep doing 30mg/ml 10ml bottles going forward. No need to mix more IMO since that would be enough to make 10 30ml bottles of juice at 3mg.

What do you do? I am highly trained and experienced in dealing with toxins and would prefer to open that bottle outside wearing gloves less more than often.

That makes sense, but personally, I'd prep more than 10 day's worth.
Maybe make a handful of those 10 ml base bottles...

Heck, I have a favorite flavor I vape almost all the time, and mix that now in 110 ml batches (in a 120 ml bottle). And I make that when the OTHER bottle is empty - in other words, I always have more than 100 mls ready to go, and it's always about a month old...

Good idea Train2. We always mixed more then enough for 3 to 4 batches of final product when we made premix. Maybe I'll just fill a 30ml with nic base instead since I have glass bottle from empties. Get a good length of time between needing a fresh batch of nic base.

Problem now is I need more 10ml bottles. I prefer them to the 5ml even though my test batches will average 5ml or less. They just give me more room to agitate the liquid as I shake it. At this point I knew a magnetic stir plate was the way to go before I ever vaped for mixing so that is a must have item now. As a manufacturer of pharmaceuticals for over a decade I see so much misinformation about the idea of steeping. It is nothing more than making the ingredients homogenized. A magnetic stirrer will get you end results way quicker than wait and shake lol.

I can see me making my ADV concoctions in 120ml batches one day when I am getting better flavors. Right now I need more empty bottles!

Actually that would be a lot more than 10 days of juice at the rate I vape. Even 10ml at 30mg nic would give me 300ml at 30mg finished juices. I only vape 3-4ml a day maybe. So that would be several months worth. But then again I am now into DIY and will have plenty of side projects in the works as well needing nic added. Making doing 30ml of base the best option. Thanks!

I make small batches of vapable ejuice, 30ml or less, because I'm in the process of stepping down my WTA each month, but I vape at or slightly above 10mg, so I just leave the 100mg as 100mg, but I freeze it in 30ml bottles; that way, when I open one of the bottles and put the remainder in the fridge, not so much is exposed to frequent openings of the bottle, frequent openings of the fridge (light). One of those 30ml bottles of 100mg nic lasts about 2-3 months -- but then, I'm also getting some of my nic content from the WTA. After I'm off the WTA, I expect the 30ml bottles of 100mg will last 1-2 months.

Andria, just curious where you're getting your WTAs and if there is a reason to not use them. I just started using more tobacco absolute in my tobaccos (not sure if they have WTAs or not), but wondering more about this.

Andria, just curious where you're getting your WTAs and if there is a reason to not use them. I just started using more tobacco absolute in my tobaccos (not sure if they have WTAs or not), but wondering more about this.

I get WTA from both wholecig.com and mothersmilkwta.com; the wholecig is clear and just about odorless, the MMWTA is dark and smoky smelling, but costs a bit less, and it's good in tobacco vapes (the wholecig is better for sweet vapes, which is why I get both).

I have heard that TA can provide *some* of the *satisfaction* of WTA, but it doesn't convey the full alkaloid spectrum as WTA does. For me, the purpose of WTA goes far beyond the satisfaction aspect; after my appendectomy last summer, I suffered DEEP, hard cravings -- not "oh a cigarette sure would be good," but more like "IF I DON'T GET WHATEVER'S IN A CIGARETTE RIGHT NOW I'M GOING TO DIE!" The first bout of those cravings actually caused me to relapse to smoking for a month, but it just sucked, burned my mouth, smelled as awful if not worse than ever before simply because it had been out of my nose for 3.5 months, so I got right back on the horse, smoke-free -- and then, though I was doing JUST FINE, 10 days in, those godawful deep cravings struck again -- but fortunately, during my relapse, I had acquired some WTA, so I started using it to try and avoid yet another relapse -- and it worked! Cravings completely disappeared and have never returned. So I stuck with that for 5 months at 10% of my ejuice; since the first of the year I've been dropping one percentage point a month, without ill effect.

The only reasons I know of to not use WTA would be 1) if you need to pass a nicotine test for insurance or something; one of the tobacco alkaloids, anabasine, can be used along with cotinine (a metabolite of nicotine) to determine your exposure to tobacco; and 2) the uncertainty of the political climate RE: e-cigs, and whatever the FDA may end up doing with the e-cig industry -- and this 2nd reason is why I've set about my slow withdrawal from WTA -- I'd far rather withdraw slowly at my own pace, than have to undergo those horrid cravings again if WTA becomes unavailable.

A lot of people around here talk about the relative addictiveness of nicotine, and how, to a never-smoker, it's probably not addictive, and years after quitting cigarettes, it even becomes less addictive for those who've quit smoking by vaping nicotine -- hence the very-common dropping of nic levels among long-term vapers. But all of that discussion is absolutely MOOT when WTA is in the mix -- because of the MAOIs, and perhaps somewhat because of the other alkaloids, WTA seems to be almost as addictive as actual cigarette-smoking. And that is another reason for my gradual withdrawal from it -- if it's possible for my physical addiction to grow less and less, the longer I vape, then I'd like that process to begin, but as long as I'm vaping WTA, it never will.

If you'd like to learn more about it without having to spend days searching the web, I put together some research I did about WTA to answer my own questions about it, at my website: Angry Vaper - About WTA .
