my new order will be arriving today and i decided to go for it with 0 nic.. i was vaping 8mg and i went down to 6mg and i thought it was time to go with 0mg.. the reason i decided to do this is that i'm finding that i'm not having a nic fit, like okay where is my pv - i need this right now, where the heck is it... i truely think that i will be okay with this... for me right now i think it's hand to mouth gesture, as long as i have that i should be fine and of course with ms t's wonderful flavours, i should be okay... keeping my fingers cross in this next step of my journey....oh by the way, i do have some xanax laying around if i should need it!! :p

I wouldn't do the xanax, too many moody side affects!!

like the other said, just keep a higher nic juice for the bad days.. I got rid of all my juices higher than 14 after starting Ms. T's Juices but, I kept one 36mg menthol one for the bad days and I have had to use it at least twice since. I'm pretty sure I would of smoked a cig from my fridge had I not had it around, xanax or not!! You definitely picked the right juices to go to zero nic with though, I can see it working out for ya :)

You can do it, I have and did,-------- and I smoked for over 60 years. Your right it is a hand to mouth, I know I was a thumb sucker. Agree Ms T's does have the best juice, then second with Gourmet Vapor.
Oh I do have some 4 and 6 ..I will try puffing on that, however, it makes me dizzy, but then again maybe that is just me.

Good luck, susieque!

I've actually been buying bottles of my favorite flavors in low (14mg) and in 0nic, so I can adjust them accordingly. ( I use only 0nic all morning)

I've found just recently that in the mornings, nicotine really irritates my throat...as the day goes on it doesn't, so I inch up the nic later if I want it.

This does tell me that, like you, it's not really about the nicotine for me but about the hand to mouth habit...good luck!

Let us know how it goes!

gosh darn it - i had to have some nic today... little upset with myself... but tomorrow is another day...... well this is my outlook of it all, i rather have the nic instead of a real smoke... so i'm going not to try to get down on myself with this... i'll just try again tomorrow and take it from there....

okay i'm really ashamed of myself now - but i placed and order for a few items a couple of days ago and emailed her and ask if she could add 4mg of nic to my juice and she said that i could without any problem... so i guess i'm not ready for the big leap yet. i'm going to take it slow do 4mg and than 2mg (if she does this low) and than 0... i'll intermix - have some 0mg and have some 4mg thru out the day... hopefully this will help with my mission to be completly 0 nic or nic free.... i thought that this was going to be a breeze for me - have to find that inner stregnth.. i know i can do this!!!

susieque, don't be hard on yourself...look how far you've come! Just getting off the cigs is a MAJOR accomplishment. :toast: Congratulations to you for that huge milestone! Reducing the nic has got to be the toughest part of it since that's the physiological addiction.

I am very interested in how things are going for you now since it's been a while since this thread was started. I, too, hope to step down the nic with the goal of getting off of it completely.

I was a pack-a-day smoker and started my e-cig trek on 24mg two weeks ago. The first week I dropped back to 18mg most of the time with just occassional 24mg sessions. Now I'm swinging back and forth between 14mg and 18mg juices and figure I'll be in that position for a few months since I think 18mg is my "addiction sweet spot".

I'd really like to hear your progression for stepping down, as I think many of us are hoping to get off nic (and in my case, get off vaping, even) at some point in the future. It would be good to find out where you've been and how long it took you to work down to 4/2/0mg. That seems like a helluva good point to be at, even if it had to be maintained for awhile.

Again, congratulations on where you've gotten to already!

hey tek - i was 1/2 pk smoker when i started my journey in the e-cig world (actully it was in february), i started out low with 12 mg. i did this for a couple of wks and still i found it too harsh for me. i then went to 8 mg which i found was my comfort zone. now in saying this, i did have a few smokes here and there, for about a month and then one day i got up with no cravings and that is when i knew i was done with the ciggy's... for some reason i didn't feel comfortable doing high nic-it didn't settle right with me. so in all honesty this was my way of quitting the bad ugly habit of the ciggy world... so i think it was in july i went down to 6 mg and i was fine with this, so i felt it was time to try lowering it again, so i tried the zero out, but i found out that i wasn't quite ready for this, so i went to 4 mg... but i did place an order for a few more of 6 mg and the only reason i did this was -lost a dear friend last night and not coping very well. all i have is the chinese juice in 8 mg and i can not vape this stuff. all i taste is chemicals in there juice-yuc.. but at least i will have some of the good juice here, when something unexpectantly happens and that i will have a little higher crutch to fall back on... but as you can see i wasn't a heavy smoker, but it was still a struggle to get off of them... this was my way of handeling my nicotine quantity... i think you will know when you want to step down, maybe a month or two, give it a shot... you know i might of been okay with the zero nic, but you know how your mind works - OMG you do not have any nic in you system - i wonder if its a mind over matter deal... who knows, but what i do know is that when i tried the 0 nic it made me cough for some reason , maybe there was more pg in it to give a litte TH.. not sure as to why, but in any event i will try again in the near future... tc

TC, thanks for the timeline and background! I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. An emotional shock like that is hard to deal with in even the best of times, doubly so about now, I'm sure.

Sounds like you had a good approach. My loosely-laid-out plan pretty much shadows that approach, but starting from a higher nic level and over a longer timeframe, I think. Fortunately, I was able to put the smokes down immediately when I started vaping and I think that was due to the nic level I started at. But since I started that high it's probably going to take me awhile to back off of it. I'm hoping 12-18 months to zero out, but if it takes longer...I can deal with it.

Yeah, I can relate to the ridiculous way the mind works sometimes. When I was on analogs I would have to make an emergency run to buy more if I got down to the last couple of smokes in the pack - even though I didn't need/want a cig right then...it was the "fear" of not having any available if I needed one or two or three. The realization that you don't have any nic in your blood probably prompts the same kind of hysterical impulse in the brain and it freaks.

The cough when you went to 0 is odd, but like you said, it may be the mix of PG/VG in the 0 nic juice. Best of luck to you when you resume the drop again! And thanks a bunch for sharing your path!
