I feel like a MANIAC NEWBIE VAPORER. So, I figured this thread topic might capture what some others are feeling like. And as a bonus, this should be my fifth post. Time to graduate, so to speak, from newbie forum land. I'm so proud of myself. :)

So, what have I done in the first month since discovering e cigs?

*read a testimonial my brother, a MD, emailed me about how e-cigs helped a guy quit, and told him I would give it a shot. I knew I could do it after reading it. Sorry, can't post the link yet.

*Then, I bought a nice KR808D-1 starter kit "setup" from Cigeasy. $50 total.

* Bet my boss I could quit smoking (after 37 years) ... gonna enjoy letting him keep that $20 bucks he owes me though, he's a nice younger guy and really cares about me, I feel.

*Quit smoking analogs completely. (cheated once early on .... due to some bad planning logistics, and smoked 3 or 4 analogs, but not since then.)

*Bought another "setup" for an interested coworker friend. (he paid me back although I didn't care as I saw his excitement. I now wonder if he didn't just buy one to morally support me ... he's cool like that.)

*Bought another "setup" for the wife (unsolicited), and have enjoyed watching her gradually slow down, and at this point, not need analogs at all now. (she wasn't a heavy smoker though)

* Got a PCC, syringes, spare bottles, labels, CVS vegetable glycerine, drip tubes, and a nice tackle box to hold all my stuff (I call it my "chemistry set"), and now have over 30 flavors of varying strengths (small samples mostly) from several different companies.

* Couldn't wait for Alt-Smoke to stock up, so ordered a Silver Bullet from electronic-cigz in Canada. Almost suicided when Customs held things up a few extra days. So, in the meantime ... ordered a AFS V2 from Vaporkings to put on my Silver Bullet that hadn't arrived yet.

* The mail lady who delivered my Silver Bullet wanted in on my excitement .. and to help her mother quit analogs, so I made up a quick tutorial with links embedded of what I did and sent it to her. Of course, several interested people at work now have that tutorial and are spreading it around. You may even find one in your email spam folder one day.

It will thrill me greatly to have a small role in "putting Big tobacco and Big Pharma" out of the "killing people" business.

Now, today, the day of my fifth post, you oughta see that AFS v2 on the Silver Bullet .... it looks like a Saturn 5 rocket or something out of a SCI-FI movie.

Awesome. And it works. So, a lot done in 35 days or so. I'm keeping the excitement high and GOING FOR IT. My buddy laughed at me when he saw the Saturn 5 and said, " you have the most addictive personality I've seen in a long time". Of course, I laughed (with reckless abandon) back at him as now, at least, I'm addicted to something a lot less dangerous than analogs.

I hope this helps another newbie stay the course .. I believe from my reading this forum that many newbies quit vaping because they throw in the towel too soon.

There is a vape out there with the throat hit you need, the nicotine level you need, and the convenience that you need. My secret was to read, read, and read these forums and let those with experience guide the way. WHAT AN AWESOME SUPPORT GROUP !!

And now, in keeping with the 'MANIAC NEWBIE' spirit ... I look forward to getting the brass ended GGTS when Imeo gets 'em rolling again; and Misty's wetbox, also gotta have a Phidius Woodimus, and a Nucks' Fistpack or two or three. Of course, this will take time as I'm far from being a rich guy. But, have you seen the price of analogs lately? Either way, I'm saving money ... they've got to be kidding me.

Who says being a MANIAC NEWBIE VAPORER dude isn't fun? I got a long way to go to become a Grimm Green, a Dumwaldo, a guy with a fedora, or a Dr.Vapor, etc. ... (hint: you should really take advantage of You Tube) ... BUT DANG IT IF I'M NOT ON MY WAY !! :)

Your #5 is one of the best "newbie" posts I've read in a long time, Rodney!! Congrats on your adventures so far, and, believe me, they just keep coming! I've been vaping for quite a while now and I'm still excited about it.

To all you newbies who are having trouble "getting into it", take some of Rodney's advice and read, read, and read some more...then go to YouTube and watch, watch, watch. Don't be afraid to ask any "stupid" questions that come to mind...that's the only way to learn.

Vaping is truly an exciting adventure and I wish everyone great success!!

Wow. Thanks for that super positive feedback ... almost had to wipe away a tear from my eye over here folks. You guys said some really nice things .... and I do love you all dearly.

So, let's all just keep on keeping on ... and help one another (and everybody) get healthy ... and have a ton of fun doing it. This is the correct path. I am now officially "on a mission".

It broke my heart when a friend I hadn't seen in awhile told me this morning his father died from smoking 'Viceroys'. His dad was a Philadelphia Eagle football player and local hero.

If he had had the vaping community and technology ... he might still be around.... along with so many others who've gone over to the other side earlier than necessary.

Thus, you see ... our mission is clear. This is good and important work. This is the correct path.

Sorta makes me feel like I'm an important person again on this planet amongst 6 billion people.

I'm very glad to have you all as mission operatives and accomplices.

Hey Rod, welcome to another Noreaster!

Great post, I'm also doing my best to convert folks. Already gave away both of my starter kits (901 and 510's) to fellow employees.

Let us know how your Saturn 5 (SB AFS) works. I've got a SB that is just dieing to be an AFS. It's starting to feel kind of abandoned after getting my REO.

This is fun, aint it???

I'm among the maniacs too!!! I say that proudly BTW. I started vaping April 5th and that also was the day of my last analog (well, except for one about five days into it when I accidentally left my PV at home when I went for gas. I had to throw the analog away after two puffs because it stated well, not good at all). I have no clue how many posts one must read or mistakes one must make before crossing that line from being a newbie to "I've got it together now" but I can tell you that I'm still reading and learning. I still have my "off" days too when I just can't seem to "get my vape on." By that I'm saying that there are still those days, regardless of doing the exact same thing I was doing yesterday, that I just can't find that perfect "sweet spot." We all have them so don't be alarmed when it happens. Just keep working at it, reading, and asking for help because you will figure it out and life will be grand again. :D

One thing I'm learning quickly, this is an ever changing world and just as we think we have it all figured out and get settled in with our perfect mod, something new is going to come along or some new and better feature will be added to the mod we have and we're going to be going back to the drawing board again to decide where we want to go from here. I liken it to getting a new computer, getting it all down pat where we can operate it without having to consult our manual or ask for help and then bammmm....along comes a newer one with more of what we want and what we thought was the best is now archaic. Be prepared. :p
