How did you go from smoking to vaping?

I had been a smoker for 30 years - stupidest thing I've ever done, which is really saying something. I'm a jazz musician but I also teach at Depaul University and I saw one of my students using an ecig in the courtyard of the music building. I had to ask him about it because I had never seen anything but the type that looked like cigarettes that are sold at convenience stores.
This is why rules and regulations treating vaping the exact same as smoking are a very bad idea.
And college campuses are one of the places where this is happening more and more frequently these days.

Congrats!

I went directly to vaping. Based on a promise to my wife to swap expenses from cigarettes to vaping, I had no choice. I've relapsed a couple times along the way but I still vape 99% of the time. I think the best advice is to not get caught up in the hype, initially, lol. Get a good working setup, a flavor you can actually tolerate, and keep an open mind, you'll be fine.

After a few failed attempts to stick with the vaping thing over the years I finally found a setup that would work all day with out any down time to charge or reload. That was only half the process because I continued to smoke through out the day, just not near as much. The final piece of the puzzle was finding a juice that I had to have more than smoke. Once I found that there was no reason to smoke. It just sort of happened and one night I realized that I hadn't smoked at all and didn't really want to. Simple transition that just happened, no stress from working from or to a specific day and I still have a few cigs left if i ever want to try one again. I think the whole specific day and get rid of all things related stresses you out and makes it harder.

I actually quit smoking cigarettes about 10 years ago and just recently took up vaping. A lot of people start vaping to quit cigarettes and that's great, but my problem, after I quit cigarettes, was finding something to do with my hands, the solution was sticking food in my mouth. When I reached 300 lbs, I knew something had to change. Vaping has really helped me cut way down on in between meal snacking, and I've already lost 5 pounds.
Conventional wisdom says smoking is all about the nicotine.
For many that may be true, but the statement itself is not true in general.

The problem is that so many people have been brainwashed to believe it, that it seems to be seen as fact.
We are the people that will change that, some day, hopefully soon.

I was not considering quitting smoking until I figured out how to make vaping consistent, easy, fool-proof.
Dripping is what did that for me, but it took about a week to figure that out.

Here is a poll that might be useful in this thread...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ou-put-down-those-last-couple-cigarettes.html

They didn't even offer the choice of what it took for me to finally get rid of that last cigarette I had for the last 3 days I smoked... learning how to inhale correctly -- though maybe that falls under "get used to e-cigs"? Because inhaling them like a cigarette really doesn't work for nic absorption.

I was smoking and using a g-pen to slow down on my cigarette consumption at the same time. After a couple of weeks I bought a Halo Triton and some decent quality juice. This enabled me to go from 10 or 12 cigarettes a day down to 4 or 5. The process took a couple of weeks. A week later I ordered a Provari and a couple of Aspire Nautilus tanks and threw out the remaining half pack of cigarettes I had. I believe, that if you have equipment that works, and juice that tastes good you will be able to succeed. I smoked for over 30 years but when I found a combination that worked for me I was off the crypt-rockets with no desire to return to them. I haven't had a cigarette in over 2 years and I don't miss them at all.
