I'll be restating some things that have already been said, but consider it verification through multiple sources. :)
I've seen it said that they can't be used with the AC adapter and now that they have been.
You should be able to use a PT with any USB adapter that provides at least 1000mA(1A) to the port.

Obviously the advertised convenience of them is that they can be used with your pc but I've also seen a post or two saying it's a bad idea and may fry your usb port or even motherboard.
Highly unlikely. Most modern motherboards and operating systems are smart enough to cut power to a USB port drawing too much. If that doesn't happen, even in 95% of cases the worst you'll do is blow out that USB header usually causing you to use 1-2 USB ports. Only in a truly worst case scenario will you destroy your motherboard. However, this can be the case with any single device you plug into a USB port that draws power, and is typically not a problem. If you're concerned about it, consider an external powered USB hub.

I also haven't bought a car adapter for it yet but I do have a stereo in my truck with a usb port in it. I was skeptical about using it in that for fear of blowing a fuse, but I just couldn't resist, and last night I used it on that usb port on 2 different 20 minute drives with no issues at all.
I am surprised to hear this one, I wouldn't have thought that a USB port on a head unit would provide full power, but it's certainly a good thing. There still might be concerns as the head unit's USB port may not be designed to provide full power through it. I would still suggest using a car adapter if it's feasible, because like you said blowing a fuse wouldn't be fun.

Thanks for the info both PawPaw and JohnnyVapor. Most of that is exactly as I expected but as I said I have seen conflicting posts so was curious.

I'd have to agree that using the usb port on the stereo on a regular basis probably wouldn't be a good idea. But it was one of those times where I just couldn't resist trying it since it was there and I have yet to get myself a car adapter. Besides, with the lack of good radio stations, having it taken up all the time would make me miss being able to toss my flash drive into it for some good music ;)

We still reco, unplugging, while not in use, as we have found they last longer this way. We have many going fabulous, well over 7 months;)

See now that I hadn't seen yet. So that's good to know. Thanks Steve (I'm beginning to think you sleep even less than I do :D )

Thyestean-seems others have covered it all. Reason I like the AC adapter is I don't always have the computer on while at the desk and when I go to the couch it can come with me also. Unless I'm wrong, even the cig socket on a car has a fuse that can be blown, but haven't heard anyone saying it's happened. Sorry I was slow in getting back to this-been playing plumber under the kitchen sink and still sore from that one.
Nice tip Steve since I haven't always unplugged them at night. Nice to know some are going after 7 months. Agree 9 out of 10 is a good average, plus your great about making things right. So I won't really be holding off on making an order due to that, just have to catch up on payments and things around here. Main reason I've held off was the hope they would come in solid blue or with just one logo at the top like some of your other products have started to do in the manuel models.

Is that for fear of pulling the cord out ,or to remedy something else?

Yes, in a way.
It has been recommended quite a few times on this forum, by various members, as a precautionary technique.

Some people have dissected broken PT's to see what they look like inside and try to figure out why it broke.

Many believe that because the cord is held in place (on the inside of the PT) by a drop of glue, the cause of some deaths can be attributed to the cord getting twisted around and breaking on the inside - severing the connection.

The cord really needs some flexibility at the base, in future models. I wish I could get a kr808d adapter for the PureSmoker PT, which is built like a tank. Maybe the 901 adapter works? Anyone know? Or I hope someday V4L offers a more expensive luxury PT - built with thicker, longer cord, slightly larger body diameter, and perhaps a longer ecig body too. It would be nice to have a really sturdy PT.

I have no problems with any of my PT's, but I'll always tape the cords just to be sure.

They do have PTs with a single logo now!
I'm picky-has to come in blue and be a manual. As far as I can tell from the site's picture the single logo PTs are automatics and blue wasn't in the list. Will be a while before I'm in the market for one though so maybe he'll get some in that way, if not I may get another one with all the scribbles.
