I've been using my map tank less and less lately, it seams like it only wics properly while its full. once i get to to about half full i am always getting dry hits and really harsh taste. At first i thought it was just the cartomiser so i replaced it, that didn't work so i tried cutting the wic so it was frayed at the end (thought maybe that would help). but nothing i do helps.. any advice on how to make it work all the way to empty?

i do like a whirly motion or tip it upside down so the juice gets to the top of the wick faster. also you may need to clean the atty more often if you use like a darker juice that leaves more "crude" on the element. i usually do a warm rinse, pat dry wick w/towel, dry burn, warm rinse to get ashes off. ce2's are notorious for cruding up fast.

I do the same thing and it works for me.

thorough cleaning and quick dry burn at least every tank or two...swirl it when it gets below 1/2 tank if you really want to get the last of the juice. Also make sure that the plastic piece that covers the ceramic is centered over the wick and fully pressed in. I've had it not draw air correctly if it's not seated right and that will give it that harsh, dry taste. Not to mention it has a tendency to leak. Cleaning and dry burn though are the key to long CE2 life and great taste and vapor.

It could be the pg/vg ratio in the juice. It could also be the flavorings used, if they are darker. I've also found that when I ran my MapTanks at 3.7v, before I got my Provari and could choose around 4.5v, that the vape got harsh faster, because there wasn't enough power to keep the wick burning clean for a whole tank. Not sure what you're running the tank on. There definitely is a bit of performance drop-off though from a full tank, to getting near the end of it. I just tip and swirl it almost every hit, to keep it well primed and keep going. Just a bit more insight..hope it helps!

ive run mine dry (empty) with out any problems but i use mostly pg maybe 5% vg and yes it is a lite color juice and 2.8ohm at 3.5 v.
it does get darker (juice) as i vape it empty but it seems the flavor gets better just before its gone I just swirl it almost every hit and turn it upside down when it gets to the last 1/4 tank full.

Mine do the same thing when they are half full. I have just gotten to the point that I do a quick tip of the tank before I vape and that always does the trick. Funny thing is that my everyday vape is a 70pg/30vg ORYental from Freedomsmoke as my main vape, when I get to the half full mark is when I have to tip the tank to make sure I do not get the burnt taste. I also use a few of COV's 100%VG flavors and they never have an issue wicking, I can run that yummy butterscotch almost completely out and still wicks great. Still not sure how that works??? Must be some Bruce VooDoo :)

Mine just started doing this, and it's quite irritating. The first CE2 lasted a little over a month, I replaced it with a new 3.2ohm about a week ago. Now when it gets about halfway down I get this horrible burnt taste, I normally run at 4-4.2v. It is a dark juice, so every tank refill I have to dry burn. Normally when it gets down to the last 1ml or so is when it gets bad, but now it's not even making it half a tank. I've also found that if I push the cap all the way down (the one from the CE2) the coil will start to burn it (quite a disgusting plastic taste), so I never push it all the way down.

Really starting to bother me, anyone have advice on how to fix it?

It sounds like the drip tip tube in the top derlin cap is pushed down too far into the cap. It may need to be adjusted to relieve some of the pressure that it is placing on the white rubber cap that fits over the ceramic part of the CE2 when assembled. It may be pushing down on it enough to cause a wicking problem and cause it to melt or burn the white rubber cap that fits over the ceramic part of the CE2. I believe that each CE2 varies a little as far as how tall it is, which is why I feel an adjustment of the drip tip tube may be necessary. You could also try a different CE2 to see if you get the same results.

Nope, still getting the same nasty plastic taste that turned me off to CE2s... really odd that I didn't have that for the first month.

I guess I'll try a new juice, was thinking of mixing up a new flavor that I might like (still deciding what that is) since the dark flavor clogs the coil so fast (every tank) where my lighter flavors (good, but not an all day vape for me) take 2-3 tanks before needing a clean.

Not sure, but it's working a bit better now. I dumped out over half a tank of juice (DIY, so not a big loss) and did a major cleaning, took forever to dry burn (@4v) as it was smoking for a bit, with that odd plasticy smell to it. Thinking it's these CE2s I got, they appear to be dry but might have some kind of primer (a brand new one does produce smoke/vapor if dry burned before adding any juice).

I went through 3 2.8 CE2's in a month and had various self-inflicted problems. This is not a complaint! Although Bruce is having problems keeping up with demand. I am a slob and don't clean. I can't be bothered with trying to resurrect a $5 part. I tried once (burnt it dead).

I got a 3.0 and put it on my variable mod. Found 4.8 to 5.2 sweet spot for me. Previously I had syringe filled, developed leaking, hot juice in the mouth, too hot vapor. But I loved each for almost a week, when it was ok.

This new one I tried a new tactic. I remove the top and fill it directly. I use the additional ring in the top. After 2-4 tanks, depending on the juice, when it gets too dark, I dump the black juice. No I don't clean.

Sunrise, surprise, surprise! 4 weeks so far. Slight crud build-up only problem. No other problems. I used VG and 50/50 and PG. All performed well. New juice seems to have a cleaning affect on the atomizer. Dumping the dark juice keeps the atomizer clean enough. By filling directly, the plastic insert and plastic cap do not get deformed and remain pristine. I never get leakage. I tilt every 2-3 drags and it never gets hot or dry. No swirling or shaking is needed because seating is good. Vapor production is high.

As with all things e-cig related, there is a learning curve. As others have helped me before (special shout out to Bruce) I share my findings. In conclusion, the MAP tank is a definite winner and here to stay.
