Got my MAP tank last week and LOVE it. It is the 2.4 ohm version. I’ve been using it on my 3.2…3.4 V eGo batteries and am very happy with it except for one thing:
Every time I refill it, I seem to create a wicking problem. I am using 70/30% pg/vg liquid. To illustrate the problem I’ll give a timeline below:

1 – Received the MAP tank, promptly filled with 3.5…4.0 ml of the 70/30 liquid using a syringe.
2 – Over the next several hours I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of the MAP tank. I used it until there was only a very small amount of liquid left in it. I did have to turn it upside down once or twice to use most of the juice.
3 – I refilled with the same liquid again using a syringe, about 3.5…4.0 ml (well below the ceramic cup).
4 – Tried to enjoy like I did the first tank, but kept getting dry hits (like I remember from the version 2 CE2s). I struggled though about 1 ml of liquid that way and got frustrated so next…
5 – I removed the top delrin cap, emptied the liquid, removed the tank itself (just leaving the CE2 carto on the lower delrin cap). I then rinsed the carto coil and wick with warm water, dried by hand and dry-burned for a few seconds. I put it all back together and refilled, then I…
6 – I enjoyed that second tank just as much as the first, I used it until there was only a very small amount of liquid left in it. I did have to turn it upside down once or twice to use most of the juice.
7 - I refilled with the same liquid again using about 3.5…4.0 ml liquid (well below the ceramic cup) but this time I did not use a syringe, This time I removed the upper delrin cap and poured liquid into the tube. I then positioned the white rubber cap onto the ceramic cup properly, replaced the delrin cap and…
8 - Tried to enjoy like the first and second tanks, but kept getting dry hits again so I cleaned and dry- burned again (see step 5) and everything was good again just like the first tank full…

This happened again on my third refill (I am still on that 3rd refilled tank now).
I am doing something wrong when refilling?
Could it be coincidence that wicking gets lousy every time I refill?
How many time can I clean and dry-burn these cartos before they wear out??

Considering the stellar performance of the MAP tank, I can live with cleaning and dry burning every tank fill (which is once a day for me), but I just like to see if others have had this issue and solved it.

Thanks in advance

I had a similar startup experience to what OP described, but after much experimentation I've found that a complete breakdown, rinse, dry and then dry burn on the coil between each tank will keep this system running flawlessly. I use FA, PA and Lorann's flavorings..usually the cappuccino, fried apple pie, pralines and cream, english toffee, etc at 1 drop per ml strength in my DIY juices at about 30% VG and my tank wicks and works exceptionally well. I am definitely not able to just refill and go though without a clean and dry burn. I don't consider it a fault of the tank though, just that the cartomizer gets gunked that fast and requires the bit of extra maintenance. I'll probably end up owning a couple of the regular tanks and a couple of the mini tanks so I can have a clean spare tank ready to fill if I have to jump up and run. I don't think this setup lends itself to just "topping off" although I may be able to do more with it, once I get my Provari to run it a bit hotter and hopefully can keep the gunk from building up too fast...just a theory for now though.

How long do your cartos typically last? If I could get 15 refills per carto I'd be very happy...

This is only my first week running the ce2's in the Map Tank..but I can tell ya I've run about 30ml's of juice so far on this same original ce2 2.5ohm and it's still going strong...lasting a HECKUVA lot longer than my LR510's last...LOL!

I've used one with my daily vape for at least a couple weeks. That's daily filling it, pulling it apart to rinse the wicks and tube out well and dry burning as needed. The Lexan still provides a good seal, I still have both wicks, I still feel like I alone know the secret to easy vaping. Its been carried around in a pill bottle and been jostled in my car's cup holder though I do recommend care since these babies are hard to come by. I treat it like I would my kids (benign neglect with the occasional sanitizing) and it thrives just like they did.
