Ok, so I got a black maraxus clone off 88evape.com... Having a few issues with the finish on it (brass parts lost their finish real quick, turned an ugly gray color... I'm thinking it was just really cheap paint, so it looks like crap now) but that's not the big deal. It was working fine originally, but now whenever I put something on it .5Ω or lower the button starts to heat up. Not really get hot, but it definitely gets warm. Normally this would be the part where I take the switch apart and clean the spring etc., but I cannot get this thing apart. I saw on a youtube video where a guy basically puts his palm on it and twists but that's not working for me... Anyone have a maraxus and wanna give me a tip on how to get this thing apart?

It's the part on the far right (This isn't a picture of my mod, just another maraxus I googled real quick) for anyone not familiar with this device but thinks they have an idea.

Mine has two little holes in the delrin insulator.
Put the pointed ends of tweezers into the holes and twist.
That's how I get mine apart.
I consider you lucky, I have had mine for two months and the button gets hot instantly no matter what resistance build I put on it.

Mine doesn't have these holes unfortunately :(

Blah really don't wanna buy another mech mod atm, gonna be getting a hammer soon in a trade but I'm not sure if I'll like it or not... Oh well, guess it's time to start saving if this thread doesn't turn up anything :(

Delrin is soft, relatively. Just drill the 2 small missing holes in it and twist it off.

Just tried this... Put two little drill bits in the holes and used those as leverage to twist, it's not moving... Looks like the clone I got has that part glued into place or something =/ Oh well, guess I'll use it for my fogger til it starts heating up at .8Ω then invest in a new mod...

OK, so this is weird... Figured I'd take a couple hits off my dripper before I tore it down and put on a .8 or higher coil... Button is no longer warming up. Any clue why drilling 2 small holes in (not even through) that part would cause this?

I'd guess it wasn't the two holes per se that corrected the problem but the pressure you applied either when making the holes or while trying to twist off the part. You moved the piece of metal leftover from the machining that you wanted to clean up. Moved it enough so that it wasn't conducting current anymore and giving you the hot spot in the switch.

My maraxus had a hot button, and massive voltage loss.
Took it apart, cleaned it good, used contact cleaner.

I also changed the switch spring, the stock one is dookie, I got a copper spring I found laying around at work, I had to cut it to fit, but now my maraxus fires every time and I never get a hot button.

I also sanded the contact posts, because I noticed gash marks in them( I used plumbers mesh to sand it)
as well as the hole the button sits in because it looked corroded.

I think the spring made the biggest difference, as well as sanding the crap off the posts and button.
