I posted 2 comments- One of them really ...... me off. You would think that someone who could write as eloquently as Mr. Gottlieb would have more sense than that. :facepalm:

And as I was finishing up my really long post, my computer started going wonky...thought I had lost everything I typed, so I just posted w/o a good proof-read...some mistakes, but oh well...

And no, the life-years aren’t all “taken off the end;” smoking roughly doubles mortality at every age.


WTH does that mean?? So, an 18 year old who smokes has "roughly" twice the chances of dying (from any disease) AT 18 than one who doesn't smoke? Where the heck do they have proof of that??

EDIT: Looking for info I came across this gem: "In Australia, a child under 14 dies from tobacco every 10 days." (ASH Australia information parents children tobacco smoking Australia cigarettes)

WTH?? Looking at that page, I didn't see anything that supported that headline claim.
