Before El rushes in here to correct the title, I refer to this as the Rule of Thumbs because it's a little rough with a little wiggle room based on end user preference.

Matching up Cartomizers with batteries for optimum flavor, TH, and vapor production is the quest of all Vapors.

Whenever the topic of Ohms Law equations arise suddenly people start to go into a trance like state, transported back to their high school math class, eyelids grow heavy and visions of a ever-so-slow moving second hand of a clock appears.

vaping Nervana or the Sweet Spot of vaping is best describe in Watts and can be found between 8.0-10 watts with a fudge factor of +/- .5 watts.

It's a given that some of us like a cool vape while others like a warmer vape.

Single Coil Cartomizers

For Single Coil Cartomizers take the voltage of the battery when it comes off the charger. For easy numbers we'll use a standard V4L Diamond Series and say it is 4.2 volts. Simply subtract 2 from the voltage for the proper Ohms which leaves us at 2.2 Ohms....the same rating as a Wow Carto.

A V4L Passthrough has a voltage rating of 5 volts so when we subtract 2 from the voltage, we get 3 or 3 ohms. Very close to a Cool Cart which is rated at 3.3 Ohms.

The newly released SVCTC or Single Vertical Coil Tank Cartomizer which I have confirmed works with a V4l Passthrough is available at 3.0 ohms. This will provide safer power use if used with a computer USB port. Although I would suggest (harshly insist) that any Passthough use with a tank be plugged into a wall wart, like a Slim Line USB wall unit.

A 5v OMG comes off the charger at 5.3 volts, again we subtract 2 from the voltage and we get 3.3 ohm which is why a Cool Cart works so well with this unit.

Dual Coil Cartomizers

For Dual Coil Cartomizers take the voltage of the battery when it comes off the charger. Again, we'll use a standard V4L Diamond Series and say it is 4.2 volts.

For Dual Coil we'll subtract 3 from the voltage which leaves us at 1.2 Ohm which is why 1.5 Ohm Dual Coil Cartomizer works so well with 3.7v devices. (most unregulated 3.7v devices runs from 4.2v to 3.7v)

A 5v OMG comes off the charger at 5.3 volts, we subtract 3 from the voltage and we get 2.2 ohm so this leaves us with either 2.0 ohm or 2.5 ohm cartomizer.

So there your have it...max battery volts -2 for single coils and -3 for dual coils, with a fudge factor of +/- .5.

Easy peasy....:2cool:

Good grief! It *IS* like being back in school :) But, like school, the better we are educated, the easier life is :) In other words...the more we KNOW about vaping, the better our choices will be :) Now excuse me while I print out a "crib sheet" to put among my "must buy" list for the next V4L order :p

Thank you, SnowDragon, it makes all the new choices in the V4L line-up a little less "overwhelming" and a little more "delightful" :) Can't wait to make some enlightened decisions instead of those "oh, that looks interesting" choices :p

Umm, are you trying to imply I'm a little OCD (or "Pecksniffian")? :?:

Well, you're right! :p:laugh:

Thanks for this simple "Rule of Thumbs" -- now even I can work it out! :D

Good day Ethereal, yes you are drawing more amps...so expect about 2 hours or so.

Here is a link to Morandir's Testing Numbers...Scroll Down a little to the numbers with the Tank, keep in mind he runs his test with a vape every 15-20 seconds. Which oddly enough is pretty much how I vape with these tanks.......help...I'm all numby.
