Waiting for my RSST to arrive and was wondering what would be the best method for maximizing vapor production. Taste is also right behind vapor production in terms of significance.

Possible methods (which would be best?):

1) 5/4? wrap 28g kanthal on 500 ss mesh wick (possibly wrap a little cotton around it, or not idk...)
2) microcoil 28g kanthal on cotton wick
3) 28g kanthal on silica wick (3mm or 2mm doubled?)

Or should I be using ekowool? Will also drill out the air hole to 5/64 probably.

Any input or advice? This will be my first rba mod.

Thanks!

I would reccomend cotton wick. I had a dickens of a time getting SS to work on my vamo. I think it has to do with the PWM. The initial spike of current overcoming the thin layer of oxidization on the wick, as it was constantly shoring on the wick. I tried every method from every video I could find, to no avail. When trying to adjust coils, I could see mini arcs along the folded seam, no matter how I oxidized the bloody thing.

Replaced with cotton, and vaping happily! The cotton seems to have a hard time keeping up with wicking demands, but aside from that, it's working like a dream (just have to put it down after 3-5 puffs to give the wick time to catch up.).

I have a Vamo3 and an RSST tank setup... My RSST is setup as such, 3mm Silica wick extending 3/8" out of the hole, about 1" in tank. On top of the wick is a dab of cotton ( the silica wick keeps the cotton moist) The coil is 30 ga kanthal at about 7-9 wraps ( space wrapped, gaps between each wrap, produces 1.7 - 2.2 ohms) the coil is then layed flat on the cotton. The reason for this, is I found that the expanded coil has more surface contact with the cotton, increasing the available area for vapor production. I run my unit at 9-10W range.
Vapor production is impressive to a degree about 3-4 times the density of what my Protank can deliver. Be sure to line up the airflow hole with the coil for better vapor production.
