Been vaping exclusively for about 10 days now and am hoping to stay off tobacco. Specific flavor is not nearly as important as getting throat and chest hit similar to what I got from cigarettes. Am using TW's Marlboro at 18mg and it is pretty good some of the time. Please help - I don't want to go back to my PAD habit.

A USB passthru without an inline battery will also provide 5 volts if your budget is tight.

As long as you don't plug that pass through into your computer. If you are going to use a pass through, make sure you get a 2 amp converter that allows you to plug directly into an outlet. Thats the only way to be fairly sure you are getting 5 volts. Plus there have been reports of pass throughs damaging laptop power circuits.

I should have given the following:
Using a Tornado that came with the standard 650 mah capacity. As I'm still a bit lost, am understanding that a different type of battery would help?

The tornado is not a true 3.7v device. If you moved on to mods that use something like an 18350 or an 18650 you will be averaging 4.2v on a fresh off the charger batt that will level out to 3.7 as it loses power. Right now on your tornado you are vaping at 3.2 or so. Better throat hit will come from 3.7+ devices. Good luck!

I think all of their juices are 100% PG, which may be why they seem to have a stronger hit. The first small bottle of the Kona Coffee Chocolate I ordered from them, even w/ very low nic., had a good TH. So I ordered a 30 ml bottle of it, and it doesn't have as strong of a TH. I'm not sure why that is. But if you like coffee flavors, you could look in their Kona Coffee series.

I haven't played with higher voltage. Nicotine content provides that scratchy sensation that to me plays the biggest part. Other ingredients can also contribute. Cinnamon (as in Atomic Cynacide, mentioned above) works. I've also found ginger is a good TH ingredient--Tasty Vapors' Gingerbread (and probably others' gingery flavors) provides a lot.

I'd also experiment with PG/VG mixes to balance flavor, vapor and throat hit. I'm not into heavy throat hit, since I was an ultra light smoker, but I do like good taste and lots of vapor. PG is a humectant, which dries out the mucous membranes. Too much PG irritates my lungs and throat so I tend to gravitate toward VG with an occasional mix of PG in the cart.

Lorann flavorings contain PG as a mixing base, so even a VG juice will have 5% to 10% PG. You might want to find a juice you like and order a bottle of each. That will allow you to mix and experiment using an empty 3ml bottle. FreedomSmokeUSA lets you pick the mix from a pulldown from 0/100 to 100/0 PG/VG.

If you've got a Tornado then you need an LR atomizer. That will give you double the effective power* of the regular atty.
*what you feel

If you get a 5 volt mod such as a Ken's Boxmod 5v or a Bartleby 5v, that will give you triple the effective power.

These 'high power' attys need to be kept wet or you'll blow them.

Is there a specific type that gives the best throat hit? I see a mess of different types on their site.

Try their Strictly Inferno (it's almost indistinguishable from Atomic Cinnacide): https://strictlyejuice.com/index.ph...ducts_id=280&zenid=2n5lrsd6k9alh1pgjnedgpoun2

...or their 2X Menthol Freeze: https://strictlyejuice.com/index.ph...ducts_id=316&zenid=2n5lrsd6k9alh1pgjnedgpoun2

...they also have a 36mg menthol: https://strictlyejuice.com/index.ph...ducts_id=299&zenid=2n5lrsd6k9alh1pgjnedgpoun2

I learn something new everyday.

So many talk about throat hit and asscoate more of it with PG, and that was my experiance with the same nic strengh when I tried a high VG blend, but wow did I get vapor from the VG. Anyway, I defer to the ECF Veteran. :)

This is unfortunately a common misconception, Berty. Most of it is due to poorly worded opinions and not factual error. I like to say that VG *robs* more TH than PG. IOW, given the same flavoring @ the same nic content, the PG based liquid will deliver more TH than a VG based one.

If one was to drip straight PG on the atomizer and vape it, he/she would see that there is no TH whatsoever, ditto with VG.

As WV explained, nic is a factor and voltage (or the equivalent in wattage via a LR atomizer) heats the liquid to a warmer vapor and thus more TH.

Just to add; flavoring can also add throat hit.

If the taste is not something your concerned with you can get some Flavour Art Black Pepper, Burley Tobacco and some capsaicin extract and add a few drops of each to your existing juice.

It will taste like a*#, but it will max out the TH of whatever nic & power level you're vaping.
