May be old news to some but cleaning my old Mini Protanks....WOW and YUCK!

So my vape stuff graveyard has about taken over my house. About 60 old dual Kanger enclosed atty's, even more old ones taken apart to rebuild if I ever had to, 2 mini protank 3's, 1 mini protank 2. Been using a lime green Evod glass until, as some may know, I got an MVP 2.0 and Nautilus Mini for my birthday. So in order to corral the parts everywhere I decided to clean all the metal stuff (after recently reading on here about vinegar for metal, vodka for just about all) and proceeded to soak the mini's (ALL authentic and paid wayy too much for months ago) in vinegar. I am on the fourth soak as of of now, rinsing with very hot water in between and using (a million) q tips and pipe cleaners. And, I just can't get the q tips and pipe cleaners to come out NOT black or some mystery color, as of yet. Also, they were cleaned prior to storing, with rubbing alcohol and peroxide, no juice, stored dry in ziploc bags. So I was hoping today they'd be finished. hmm. There may be NO metal left at the end! I was nauseated, head-achy, bloated stomach, dizzy, weak, breathless the whole time I used those buggers. 8-o I thought maybe it was the ejuice. I was using a local juice, not DIY, from a reputable vendor but not some high end stuff. I now use Grimm Creations & WeThreeVapors vanilla custards, and I'm pretty sure the quality control is good. So I thought I'd share this gruesome pic...I mean, .. WHAT is that RED stuff on there? Not juice! Rust? None visible on the metal that I can see. Vinegar gross on the 4th soak (changed in between of course). I don't know if I should give them away, ever use them again (I'm traumatized by the awfulness!) vape them forward? (conscience says toss em out!) I just don't know, but if your stomach is strong take a look...I was a former dental hygienist and ocd too so, I overclean everything....I just didn't know about the vinegar or vodka til recently....I'm so grossed out! I'm sharing this because I know there are a lot of people using these tanks still..I see many people talk about health problems they attribute to PG allergy, and that could be it of course but, ...well this metal can't be great. I think once tanks are properly cleaned they are perfectly safe, of course, I wish I'd known about the vinegar and vodka months ago. Maybe it was somewhere & I missed it. Hope this helps someone (and no one hurls....!) Please keep in mind they were stored dry, no juice...no extra contaminants could get to them in the drawer where I had them in a ziploc bag, no holes even....*sigh*
