The guy with no name, as he refers himself, at Matchbox Instruments has several new products coming out. A couple of them are the 14500 and 18650 cells. The 14500 is rated at over 7 amps, test results can be viewed here Test/Review of MBI Nuke 14500 650mAh (Black). It will be interesting to see what his 18650's will be able to pump out.

Having a 7a 14500 really opens the door to super compact sub-ohm setups. Very exciting! How amazing would that be to have a mech and atty that is about the same size as an eGo, but pumps out over 25 watts safely.

The UD AGT may soon find itself in my collection now...

Thanks for the heads up! I never would have heard of these otherwise!

man

methinks i need to join that forum. good battery info is a bit scarce in these parts usually.

Living on that forum turned me into a battery geek after a pretty short time. Those cats are hobbyists of the first order. Plus, there are plenty of actual industry professionals who are active there. It is a true gem of the Internet. I remember when Andy Wan got started selling his cells around '05 or so on the classifieds.

Be warned, though. It won't be long before you will realize that $500 isn't that bad of a price for a flashlight, and you should probably buy several just to be safe.

The power of the sun in the palm of your hand is a temptress that is hard to break from, once chased.

i hear ya.

i have a few lipos that sometimes see upwards of 180 amps. took some schlepping through battery info for a while to come across those bad boys. sadly, i'm not as up on my cylindricals as i am on my pouches.

the prices of flashlights is exactly what scares me away from candlepower. i become addicted easily and the power of sunlight at 0 dark 30 is certainly appealing when there's need for it. i could see me winding up with 30 flashlights all powered by cree.

I avoided R/C for that reason. Too expensive for my hobby list. I'm not too knowledgeable on lipos.

Living in the swamp on hurricane row, I fell into the flashlight hobby, though. I finally sold off all but my favorites and stopped being active on cpf after my daughter was born. I still have some friends in the industry, though. Every now and again I will build something.

Some of the lights are more akin to jewelry or art than tools , though. They are hard to avoid.

You can definitely get a lot of power from lipo's, don't think I want any close to my mouth though. The RC bug hit me years ago, still have a ton of anywhere from 2S to 6S battery's stored in metal toolboxes. Flashlights are a very addictive and expensive hobby as well. I've had to talk myself out of putting trits on my mods lol. The most tempting one to do is the power symbol on my ihybrid pure.

Just got them in...I'm testing them before using them... I need to get an atomizer for the 14500 mod I have anyways, so hopefully I will have results of tests up before then... my friend's don't understand the whole flush fit thing with atomizers...call me OCD:)

If I don't post results by Tuesday/Wednesday...someone yell at me..:)
