Hey,

I'm getting a copper hades 26650 soon and would like to know how do people usually go about cleaning it before first use.

I always clean my attys thoroughly, ultrasonic cleaning, etc and would like to know if the same can be done to a copper mod. Can I disassemble the whole thing and through it in the ultrasonic with a bit of dishwasher soap or something? And then rinse it thoroughly etc?

I just want to make sure all contacts and threads are 100% machine oil free and clean.

Thanks!

I guess one could use an ultrasonic cleaner with a metal mod. I simply take them apart as far as I can and clean the individual pieces with soap and water or alcohol depending on the material. I use Cape Cod polish on the out side of my mods periodically and clean the contact points (Nemesis) with a bit of tooth paste on a rag then wiped off with alcohol. I clean mine about once a month or so.

Hi, sorry to poke my nose in but this was something that I to was wondering about so I was just reading and then when you also mentioned a Copper mechanical that to was something I am curious about and what some do when the patina starts to happen and if some just let it take it's natural action or use a copper cleaner, just wondering and if your not familiar with Patina here is a link to explain it, Patina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thanks in advance

I don't mind as I love that kind of look. My main worry is the initial cleaning, wasn't sure I could just chuck all the parts in hot water / ultrasonic cleaner with dishwasher soap etc.

Since I can then I guess all I'll do is get some cape cod polish for the outer tube and regularly clean with alcohol and qtip the threads / connections. That should about cover it :)

Just keep in mind that cape cod will remove the patina from both copper and brass. Oh and I've had no problems with either the copper or brass with treads not holding up on my nemesis clones. They are holding up as well as the brass however get some lid remover pads or some kind of good rubber glove to take the copper or brass apart as it sometimes will lock to itself pretty good. I also use Ox-Gard on the treads which also aids connectivity, especially with aluminum and other metals such as copper, brass and stainless steel. There is another out there also but can't remember the name off hand and couldn't find it at the time I needed it so got the Ox-Gard which works also. Most of the anti seize compounds will help on the treads regardless.
