Mech mod + kick / fuse, is it as safe as a vamo / zmax / provari etc?

I like the look of the mech mods and also that they will last probably forever, but I am a bit paranoid about batteries venting and burning my house down / blowing my face off or similar...

So if I bought a mech mod with a kick such as Kamry kick or smok kick and possibly a vape safe fuse as well for extra protection, would this be just as safe as a VW device such as vamo, SVD, provari etc?

I guess that the kick is basically the same as the chip in a vamo or VW device, so technically it should be as safe? Except that the mech mod does not turn off and the button is on the bottom, but I assume with a kick that if you did leave the button pressed down it would cut out when it gets too hot?

I think I would prefer a VW device if it is safer but I like the idea of a mech mod that will not have buttons that break and also look nicer / smaller... so if I got a Nemesis mod + kick + possibly a fuse as well as a second safety feature, is there any reason this would not be as safe as a vamo, provari etc? I would be using efest IMR batteries and nitecore charger so that is ok, I just do not like the idea of exploding batteries spewing gas all over my face / house! Any advice appreciated thanks! PS : Would a nemesis mod fit a kick AND a vape fuse?

The Kick is nice because it will tell you if there's a short. I had a short in an RBA once, and the Kick let me know by 'clicking' and not firing....It will also let you know if your battery is too low as it will not fire properly (short little bursts)....

The only thing that the Kick does not do is reverse battery warning. It is my understanding that the Kick will just die if the battery is put in backwards....is this correct?

Not sure about a Kick and a fuse, but I run my Nemmy clone in 18650 + Kick and it works excellent!!

Reduce concerns - Use only IMR batteries

Built in protection will NOT stop a run away LI-ion in ANY MOD.
Built in protection is to protect the Mod from Short/Overcharge/Undercharge Damage.
A portion of Programing is dedicated to monitoring Battery and controlling cut off voltage.

But the point of the safety features are to stop this happening? ("runaway battery") So you are saying that the safety features are pointless?

But my question is : is a mech with a kick as safe as a vamo or provari for example. Is it basically the same function without buttons or lcd? eg. it will stop the battery blowing up if there is a short or overheat etc.

You can get the Vamo V5S HEAD specifically made to fit between your mech mod and your tank.

You will need a mech that can turn on and stay on; not a spring button. Not sure what mechs do that.

There is no simple answer.
The features are there in APV's and the kick - Again, they are to protect the mod from damage. Yes theoretically it should be okay, but No there is no Guaranty a battery will not go postal on its own.

Well no but obviously the chance of that happening is about 500x higher if you are using a mech mod with no protection vs a Kmax or similar. Obviously the battery MIGHT for some random reason decide to blow up but I don't think that happens a lot, it is usually due to a short or failed safety features etc. So I was asking if a mech mod with a kick or kick + fuse would be equally as safe compared to a normal VW mod provari, vamo etc. I don't see much point using a vamo head with a mech body because you may as well just use the vamo body. The thing I like about mech is that there is nothing to go wrong so if vaping equipment import did get banned at customs etc, if you have a mech mod then there is not a lot that can go wrong with it as it is a few chunks of metal, a vamo etc. the electronics can fail, buttons break etc. So a mech mod with a kayfun or RDA would probably last a long time where a VW mod would probably die within a year or 2.

According to PBusardo, the Kick will not just die if the battery is put in backwards, the Kick will FRY!

You just explained the point of using a vamo head with a mech body.
If the vamo eletronics fails you can still use the mech.
If you just had the vamo body, you'd have to mod it into a mech first before you could use it.

I guess, but then as you have already bought the vamo and mech mod you may as well just use them seperately! As a full vamo only costs slightly more than the head on its own.
