Mech Mod, the safe OHM...

Is this the correct way to calculate the maximum discharge (amp limit).

Say I'm using an IMR 18650 1600mah 15 c battery.

Is would be 1600mah /1000= 1.6

1.6 x 15c = 24 ( max discharge / amp limit )

If my battery is at 4.2 volts with a .9 ohm coil that would be 4.7 amps.

This would be well under the max discharge rate of the battery right?

Haha, I just re-read original post. The answer is yes, most all batteries are fine at 1.2.

Just came to this thread and I was about to answer same as you; that *virtually* any battery will be able to support a continuous 4.2A discharge so any coil combo over 1.0 should be OK. OTOH, precautions are in order and one should always get the best batteries available.

Oh, and hey, did anyone else see the new Black Vamped 40 amp & Copper Vamped 40 amp Batts that are listed on 101Vape?? 40 amp continuous with 2000 mah's in an 18650 batt!! Hmm, will keep these in mind if I ever want to go .15 or lower. :D

Got four of them from KP. Great but they don't fit inside two of my mods. They are --in average- 18.5mm in diameter. :(
I'm debating if I should turn the mod chambers to remove that extra 0.5mm.

I sure wouldn't. There are much better batteries out there. Why risk ruining a mod, and make actual good batteries rattle around in it, for a 20amp battery with dishonest labels and advertising?

Right! You would be at 1/5 the battery rating. Even if it's overrated you should be OK.

BTW, I've tried serious sub-ohming and found it totally disappointing. It burns my juices and my throat. Now I keep at >=1.0 Ohm. A bummer with one of my drippers that is designed for quads. ;)

Hey! A bunch of thanks for the sobering! :) You're absolutely right... Besides, it's not like I have a shortage of good ones. Right now I have 4 green Sonys (VTC5) in the charger while I drain my 4 Purple Efests in my rotation. The Vampeds work just fine on the regs (eVic, eVic Sup., Sigelei 20W & Cloupor 30). No risks there.
