Mech mods and protanks

Now, I'm new to the mech mod game, and I only have 1 rda. I want to use my mech but can't really drip at work seeing as how I am a commercial driver. I built a protank coil to .8 ohm, I can use this on my mech, correct? I'm getting a genius is style bra next week or so, but don't want to hear the wife complain I'm not using the mech I just bought.

As long as you do not exceed the amp rating of your battery it'll be fine. But, protanks are really better suited for regulated devices.

The main issue I see here is the possibility of burning the insulator on the protank. That rubber insulator tastes pretty horrible when you burn it.

Yeah this. On a mech at .8 you'll be pulling at least 17 watts. That's pretty high for a Protank.

I've been known to put a .9 ohm coil in an MT3s for a mech. Not sure about the insulator, but I did chain vape basically an entire tank (Ahlusion Grape Vine, mmmhmm) without issue. Can't really stand the tight draw anymore, so that was the one time, but that's my $0.02.

There's no reason that you can't build a coil for the Protank that will give you the ~watts that you were getting from using it with your previous mod. There's no inherent reason to only use sub-ohm coils on a mech mod.

Not saying it wouldn't work, just not being utilized to anywhere near it's potential.

I have a 1.3Ω cotton wicked microcoil in a Protank2 on a Nemesis as I type and it works great.

The more atties I try on my mechs the less necessary an APV seems.

You don't HAVE to sub-ohm with a mech, just because it's a mech.
I wouldn't go below 1.3 ohms with a pt at 4.2v it's just not built for it.
For best results i would say 1.5ohms and replace batteries when it starts getting weak.

Agreed. But that is the primary argument for a mech.

I have been daily driving Protanks for at least 6 months with 28guage kanthal micro-coiled to .8Ω on a mechanical mod and it is terrific!! Honestly the flavor I get out of the Protank with cotton wick is better than I have managed to get out of my Kayfun Lite Plus. You might be amazed by it and end up sticking with it!

Don't knock it til you try it! I've vaped many different atomizers and the micro-coiled Protank at .8Ω is that one that I keep coming back to for my daily driver!

.6 on a miniprotank with a vertical coil works good on my Turtle Ship V1 when I an driving. Just needed a eGo to 510 adapter.

Use it to try and convert a friend or family member that still smokes. My brother in law is not puffing away on my old ego's. He is still smoking most of the time but he does use them. I'll nag him into fully converting sooner or later...
