And by fixed adjustable I mean not a floating center pin. I'm looking for a new mod, high end/low end doesn't matter, to be a backup for my ELA. This thing had me spoiled though. I want something with fixed tubes, at least with 18350 and 650 (no telescopes) and an adjustable pin that doesn't float. In my experience no matter how well the mod is built the one weak spot is the center pin. I'm pretty sure the Legacy meets this criteria, just not big on it's form factor. I'd like something in a 22mm size with straight lines. Any thoughts? Also, does the pin on a Dingo adjust? (because that would be my first choice if it did)

ETA: Isn't the Poldiac's pin a screw adjustable as well?

The GP PAPS mods use a telescopic center post. Very nice center post - probably the best I've seen. I own a GP PAPS Lux and the design, performance, and support is astounding. I'm not sure if the GP PAPS would be considered a backup though, since it is a higher-end mechanical mod. You could buy the GP PAPS center post parts here and see if they're compatible with another mod that you choose.

Both the Atmomixani Nemesis and the Poldiac have screw type center posts that do NOT float. Perfect for a 'backup' PV lol, i assume that you may not have either of these and if you get one it will become your primary lol. Pricey (nemesis is absolutely worth the wait, the poldiac can be had now of course) I prefer my nemesis for one reason and one reason only, it comes with all the tubes whereas the Poldiac does not and each tube and pants can be had at extra, but worthy cost)

Here is a pic of my Poldiac and my Nemesis.
Happy hunting man.

just fyi, the QZ1 (see vape-squad reviews) and the Dees mod (Hiil Giant) (there's a supplier thread here) i think have the kind of pin you are talking about...
I have them both; great devices imo.. Dees V2 has top cap pin with a little more adjustability but certainly not loose or floating.

Hmm...It seems that this feature is a luxury reserved only for higher end devices. I do prefer quality, and after-purchase support is always a plus, but another part of me was hoping to find something on the cheap! I bought the ELA in February, and Reo Grande in June, so it'll probly be at least a few months before I can throw down that kind of $$$ at once for another mod. Dang responsibilities! Oh, well. It'll give me something to look forward to.

imo nothing beats the ELA top cap adjustment... love it!

but imo no high end mech is perfect... each has its strengths and drawbacks and it depends what you like... although some people just love their devices and see no faults in their choice.

Still, anyone researching and spending $ have the privilege of judging what's good/bad for themselves.

If you want to be delighted with a cheap but GREAT mech; imo the EA clone from EhPro, and the MKBTS (with a small button tweak) are virtually foolproof and a fantastic bargain.
(they have floating pins btw)... :) i love them in my collection and they are as good imo.
Also the EhPro Bagua, and one of the Carvela clones are in the same crowd: latest offerings by some Chinese makers that are done right in many respects vs what we've been used to getting from clones.....

imo it won't be long before the are giving high ends a hard time in the market.

Unfortunately, like I said, my ELA has severely spoiled me. I don't want a regular telescope, or a floating pin. I had an authentic Electric Angel before the ELA, Which has both. The 2 together is a bad combo, imho. All it takes is to screw the mod a little to tight together and the floating pin pushes up on the atty's pin, and BOOM! Hard short. Did it to me twice, and then it went into the classies!

Was stalking Atmizone's site for a custom dingo for a while now but a little birdy sent me a pm about this: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...oducing-precise-simplicity-18650-super-t.html I'm Super impressed with Super-T's quality, so when the time comes I may go this route.

It may have just been my ocd, but regular telescopes never felt "tight" to me, they always seemed to wiggle a little in my hand when extended for larger batteries. So I just kept cranking it down a little more, a little more, a little.. uh-oh! When I got the ELA and saw what was possible with a new approach to telescopes, I swore I'd never buy another "conventional' one again!

I had heard about this happening with others and their tele-batt problems so i'm wary.
First time i got a GGTS i said, this is too complicated; but now i see how you have to do it in steps:
1. take the top cap off and put the atty on and snug it from the bottom of the cap. just like ELA
2. then fit the battery to the tele - snug lightly -while fitting top cap too (which is set with the atty)

3. vape!
