mech mods?

*disclaimer: i tried to post a first one, aparently i ranted for too long and i got logged out so now im frustrated about that too....

basicly my sigelei 30watt got stolen, so i decided to finally give mechs a try. im severely dissapointed. i normally build around .8-1.1 on the sigelei but i went for .6 to get a similar experience.. battery life was horrible (moreso than i expected) and mechs only have their perfect spot (so i hear) so their not really all that customizable, it has to be the right setup for the mod... (imo..)

basicly... are mechs on their way out the door? and can someone recommend what i should get thats gunna be CHEAP and can fire down to .8 thats regulated? its planned to "get me through" till i can save up for a new real device..

Hmmm... Not enough info here to tell you what the problem is.
If you are lookin for an 8 hour + same vape experience, mechs arent for you.
But
Mechs are hard-real hard- to break.
Carrying a spare battery, or having a charger at work solves the battery problem.
I have Provaris, and a ZNA. I still like mechs.
You can still get more power out of a mech, though that may change soon.
You need to be really good at coil building.

All in all, a case can be made for the uselessness of mechanicals-but they arent going away anytime soon.

yeah not much info cuz my last post got trashed... that one was long, with a lot of info.. and it all went away.. the points im trying to make is that i can build it just fine.. i just dont like that you cant tailer the vape to the occasion (unless you wrap a new coil) batteries still die (even if you have a charger, or spares its inconvenient) finiky with getting everything just so... however i will say they are durable. thats about the best thing i can really say. build like a brick house. but i almost drop nothing ive ive spent a good chunk of change on it.. havent dropped my phone since i got it 2 years ago. but then theres no worry for electronics to fail either... but the regulation is nice, when wattage isnt a big deal (i dont really tend to vape higher than 25 watts) all in all, it was just "meh" i wasnt necissarily dissapointed... but i think regulated mods are sort of a better way, coming...

so for the moment, and this is my bigger deal, since my gear got stolen.. can i get a recommendation for something cheap in the meantime?

Something cheap in the regulated mods, or something cheap in an atty thats good on a mech, or something cheap in a mech mod?

If you are going to go mech, and dont normally vape above 25 watts, i would get a dripper clone for $20 and wrap it for .85 ohms.
You will get great taste, and good battery life.
Heck, from where you are coming, 1ohm single coil would do great :)

yeh, i was a box mod guy for the first year i vaped but eventually got around to buying a mech mod. and its true, if you have an extra battery, imo. its the way to go. so much simplier and the power output is outstanding. if you build to a low ohmage around .5ohms you end up with a powerful, powerful vaping experience. I used to only use a itaste mvp 2 at 6 watts and its wasnt impressing me after a while so now i only use it to check ohm levels. a mech mod battery fires at like 20-30 watts. lol. still not sure if i like not having a mod chip or not. but seems to be simplier without one. the variable wattage just confuses me. but yeh, mech mods arent bad. and are cheaperish for massive output.

Hana 30-50W clone mod will be a great substitute for your stolen Sigelei.

There's just about as many ways to make good coils for mechs as there are ways to make horribly inefficient coils for mechs. The devil is in the details, as they say.

This ^^

You can get a lot of time out of a mech. Really, more than a regulated mod.
Just not vaping at the same level the whole time.
Ever since I really learned how to build, reg mods dont appeal to me.
They do provide a even level, but I am the sort of guy that likes something to last.
Every higher power mod I have seen came with problems at some point.
I have mechs that have years on them, and work as good as day one.
Lets be clear about it though - with the power that boxes put out now, they are going to make up the largest part of the market.
Throw the messiest atrocity of a coil on them with a wadded up wick, and just turn them up till you blow a cloud.
Simple, easy, perfect for the mass market.
No need to worry about ohms law, no need to build and rebuild till you learn that just right spot.
Heck, even gennys are easier on them.
