Plenty of beautifully manufactured shiny products from Europe and the States...
...and the Phillipines ;) .

All mech mod reviews I see on you tube are dated early 2014 or before. Nothing of late.
Not sure how you search for mechs on YouTube, but there are new mech reviews almost weekly.

You're all giving me every encouragement to buy another toy. Must learn to build coils first.....
Don't let it intimidate you, it's really easy, especially if you enjoy working with small things. My suggestions: watch youtube videos for a few days, there are great instructional videos there--especially people like Grimmgreen and Rip Trippers, who are amazingly entertaining too. Also, save the link to Steam Engine--it's all the formulas for building coils etc--great resource. I bought my first addy, got some cotton and wire, and my first build was a success. Now it's fun, especially since I started rebuilding my used Aspire Atlantis coils.

I started buying mechs strictly for back up but now that I am trying them out they are pretty cool. My fav combo is a SMPL topped with a velocity mini so far. It just looks sleek and so compact.

I mostly use my regulated devices but it`s nice to know that if and when they pooch out on me I will have some mechs for back up. They are simply built and I`m assuming easy to fix if anything goes wrong with them.

I've actually done all you have suggested and Steam Engine is already bookmarked. Nice to have your endorsement though. That Grimgreen is my favourite reviewer, together with Todd's Reviews, a Scottsman who sits in a shed in the middle of nowhere in Scotland.

I enjoy Grimmgreen.
Not happy with young Todd right now. Reviewing a tobacco company starter kit.. really?
Maybe celebrity vapers should hold off on the post-2016 TPD tobacco company products until the fight is over, win or lose.

Two of his last four YouTube videos have covered a full mech: The asMODus Bullseye and the The Ruby Mod from Kennedy Enterprises. He also chats a bit about Emporer Vap'East (full mech manufacturer) in a third video and the Manhattan V2 in another. All within the last 30 days. Convicted Vapes reviewed four or five new mechs within the last 30 days as well :) .

I much prefer the mech-mod style tubes to box mods but will continue to use the regulated box mods since they offer a certain level of user protection. Even now that I somewhat understand ohms law, battery safety etc it isn't worth the risk for me, and like you say, since there are so many regulated mods that are capable of 100w+ there doesn't seem to be much of a reason to venture into mech mods other than aesthetics (correct me if I am wrong)

Don't dismiss the idea of RDA's until you have tried one ;) When I first started vaping, (not that long ago) stuff like that seemed a world away but I recently picked up a velocity clone and absolutely love it.

I sold my mech mod when I bought a bsvkup regulated mod.

NEVER sub ohm on a mech mod. Some batteries can deal with the low ohms in sub ohming. Most batteries can't Fire that low and your mech mod quickly turns into a pipe bomb.

Vaping on regulated mods is way safer with reverse battery detection, many will fire as low as .15 ojms, control the wattage for better battery life, and has circuitry to stop firing when the board gets too hot.

I'll check them out. I made the comment about reviews being old perhaps because I was trying to check out the big names you hear around the web like Nemesis for instance. And also when I search for images of "high end mech mods". I guess the new newer ones wouldn't show up so readily in an image search.

5 weeks into vaping exclusively and not a single cigarettes since. But if I hadn't found two or three e-liquids I really like, it wouldn't have happened. I've had to try out and throw away more e-liqid than I care to admit to get to this point. And I've deliberately turned vaping into a hobby in order to keep me away from the analogues. But we all know that a hobby leads to expense and the pleasure you get trawling through vaping websites, forums and you tube reviews when planning your next purchase of a shiny new mod or tank. I've made my mistakes buying things I don't use now: A Triton 2 tank (I don't sub-ohm....yet), the latest Vaporflask (too big, too rubbery, too much tech and no class) an iStick 20 (useless). My carry-around is an Aspire starter kit with K1 Glassometer and that's good. And then I hit upon Provari and I found my niche. I like quality stuff (who doesn't) and the P3 is just my style. I have two and a Radius as well. They don't introduce new models every six months and that's good in my book. Good high quality reliable products that are not mass produced in the East. I have two p3 Kabukis, both sizes of Nautys and an unpacked Kayfun 4 that I'm going to play with and build my first coil over the holidays.

When i got my authentic Kayfun i had to remove the tiny black rubber ring, from the screw driver that comes in the box, and use it to hold the centre contact pin, on the bottom of the Kayfun, in place. If the pin is in any way adjusted outwards it becomes loose. I'm thinking though, if you're going to use the Kayfun on your P3 then i doubt it will need adjusting because i think the P3 has a spring loaded contact pin.

Sorry you feel that way but it was a good product that will get people off the stinkies, that's my main interest.

As someone that works in a vape shop I have a lot more interest in the TPD outcome than as a "celebrity vaper".

    1) Yes, I do feel that way and 2) good luck... we all want the same outcome.

I spent a lot of time with a journalist (Simon Akam, Newsweek) taking/messaging about Vype products (in particular)

Big Tobacco fights back: how the cigarette kings bought the vaping industry

The way I see it, giving credence to the products which are primarily designed to stamp on what many of us use is just letting them in the back door. I would feel the same with any reviewer and any tobacco company product. Sing from the same hymn sheet for the time being is my motto. Discuss alternatives as and when there is no choice.

Keep up the good work though. Watch out for BLU calling at your doorstep.

PS, I did enjoy the 'moment' with Grimmgreen/Nick. You are a star... of course. :thumb:

Mechs have a lot less that can go wrong.
And I'm pretty sure that I can taste a difference between the two when set to the same voltage. Or that might just be my mind playing tricks on me. Haha.

And yes, they are sexier. Lol.
That might depend on the mod. For instance, look at the difference betwwen a Snow Wolf and the Reuleaux DNA 200.

Just one thing appeals to me about mechs, the form factor of the 18650 tube mods. But I won't mess around with unprotected devices. I do most of my vaping at work. If I vented a mod on the shop floor that might push management to ban them, a gamble I won't take. But now I see there are kicks that regulate watts, have reverse battery protection, low voltage, etc. They are about $7 from fasttech and one of them has 1500 glowing reviews. The compromise is you use a shorter battery to make room for the kick so it's not for marathon vaping sessions. I might find a limited use for that type of setup. Otherwise I'll stick with temp control. (I'll get a DNA200 mod when I can get something compact that takes 2 Li cells.)
