mechanical mods versus variable voltage batteries

I started vaping earlier this year and have progressed from ecig pens to vision spinner 2 with variable voltage but they all keep breaking on me and I am growing very aggravated. I have been recently told that I could get a mechanical mod without having to rebuild the coils and use my nautilus tank on it. What are the pros and cons to this please

Mechanical Mod is basically fixed voltage. You would have to pay attention to the resistance of your Nautilus to achieve the desired vape.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!

The big+ to a variable v/w devise is the safety and the ability to adjust your v/w to give you the best vape depending on your flavor. The MVP v2 is a great little box mod (with a huge battery and the ability to vape while charging).

There would be very little benefit to using a mechanical mod without rebuilding. You would be stuck with vaping at 4.2v which would drop as you vaped.

A mechanical mod is more complicated to use than a regulated variable voltage mod, especially for a beginner vaper.

It has no internal processor to keep your set voltage at a constant level. It will only give whatever voltage the battery has at a given time. It will provide 4.2 volts with a fresh battery and then be downhill in vapor production as the battery drains.

And even more important it will not have the benefit of built-in protective circuitry which can keep you out of trouble. A regulated mod will refuse to fire if there is a short in the mod or atomizer, which if present could cause the battery to go into a catastrophic battery failure.

Most regulated mods have a built-in voltage meter and ohm meter which are extremely handy to have available at the click of a button.

If you're going to be sticking with Kangers and Nautili(?) then a mechanical mod isn't going to give you the best vape. You're going to have a pretty set coil resistance and if your stuck with just the battery voltage, I'm afraid that you will be dissatisfied with your vaping experience. A variable voltage/wattage device would serve you much better in this instance. There are many different vv/vw mods out there and a ton of different price points... MVP, IVP, ProVari ($$), etc... do a search and find one that you like... but unless you are building your own coils, mechanical mods just aren't worth it, IMO... Heck, with the new vv/vw mods, mechanical mods may go the way of the dinosaur!

Please, before you get a mech, please do your homework. Know what you are getting into. There's a learning curve, and some atty's are just not appropriate or wise to use on a mech. If you go the mech route you are pretty much headed into RBA territory, and for that you need to know what you are doing, know ohms law, have the right batteries, and have the means to check your resistance and voltage. Getting into mechs is not something to do casually. You will find that view pretty much universal on here.

to ecf ZEUS87. After trying so many different pv's, I have come to just love the simplicity and dependability of the reo grand. Pretty close to indestructible. I enjoyed dripping and with the 6ml juice bottle on board, it is the ultimate dripper. Yes you have to understand a few things working with rebuildables, but I have found them to be quite easy. Although I only build single coil simple builds.........I'm happy. Always someone around here to help you anyway they can. I know.
