Rebuildable genesis popularity. I think many of us now sing the praises of owning a mod, that simply can be maintained indefinitely, by the end user. Plus we can adjust the coil of our atty devices, to suit the flavor of our vaping. Want a .08 ohm coil, go ahead, the mechanical mods will accommodate. Many vv devices will not. Super T, GG, Caravela, beautiful functionality, with a lifetime of enjoyment. The electronic mods simply cannot claim this.

But isn't the advantage of something variable, VW especially, that would lend itself to rebuildables? That's what I assumed initially, but as I got more experienced with the rebuildables I simply gravitated back to 3.7+ unregulated P+ volts and a 1.5ish ohm coil.

For me, one of the big appeals of mechs is amperage is only limited by the battery. Provides a good deal more versatility when experimenting with coil setups. My VV has essentially become a trouble shooting tool / backup PV. Another big plus (at least on P+) is the low weight, high strength and sleekness - Provari is a Zack Morris phone in comparison :p

I skipped a couple of years worth of advances. Last time I had bought anything, people were replacing cartridge filler with aquarium foam.

When I came back around to vaping, I had a lot to learn as I sought to replace my old increasingly sketchy Ego batteries. The advantages of VV and VW appealed to me, and I thought hard about a Provari since it had a 1-2 year warranty. But electronics die, even (especially) after a couple years.

So I learned more about mechanical mods, and the Kick. What appealed to me was that if the Kick died, you replaced it. If you couldn't replace it, you took it out and your mod still works. So I could have my cake and eat it too. Combined with the lifetime warranty from Super-T, the Precise Plus became my object of desire ;)

Funny though, now that I have one I have very little desire for a Kick. But I don't do rebuildables yet (when the Strata comes out, that will change - the propensity of Genesis-style to leaking is a deal-breaker for me).

The Genesis-style don't suit me *at all*. If I said what I really felt about them I'd certainly offend someone and I can't do that too many times in one day. So I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for the Strata.

With the advent of the safety fuses I've considered revisiting stacked batteries for extra oomph for special occasions, but still - all mechanical.

The simplicity, reliability, design aspects are all good reasons. But there must be something else, something intangible, something spiritual.

I think mechanical appeals more to the collector and hobbyist and are often more visually appealing. They are often more intricate in their machining and parts assembly. Electronic mods are unpersonal in a sense to me. Both have their place i believe. If you like mechanical though, the best is yet to come ;-)

For me, the reason I prefer mechanical + Kick is size. A Kicked P+ is smaller and thinner than a ProVari, and is dramatically smaller than the Z-max / VAMO / eVic / etc. There's so much wasted space in most electronic mods. I don't like vaping on a Mag Lite. The more discreet size of mechanical mods such as the P+ indicates refinement, and smaller mechanical mods are friendlier to my grip.

On the other hand, the eGo Twist, Vision Spinner, Kgo VV, etc. are too small, too insubstantial, too fragile feeling. They put the center of gravity up at my Penelope and the whole PV feels unbalanced and unfriendly, like it wants to flip out of my hand at the earliest opportunity. They're perfectly lovely as something disposable and expendable when I'm out on the lake or mowing the lawn, just as hotel soaps and shampoos are worthwhile while traveling.

.

I just wish the Kick was as reliable a Provari chip board... Being able to check you Atomizer resistance is a real plus...
