Has anybody here met up with anybody they met online in real life?

I met a girl online in a strange way, but we both got out of relationships recently and turns out we have a lot in common.

She lives 10 hours away. But I recently mentioned to her that if she wanted to she could drive over and spend a weekend or week or whatever once we get to know each other better.

I'm just a little nervous. I've met girls from online dating. But never had someone from another state stay with me for a week.

Any experiences with this?

I met my perfect Mrs online. No dating site. Just met on a forum, both had pretty much given up on relationships. Long story short... AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS of emails and phone....Fell in love with 1500 miles separating us. Had our wedding planned before we ever closed the distance. Married now for 16 wonderful years!

The only experience I have had with this is from watching Catfish, from that I will guess that she is actually a he and will be morbidly obese.

As long as you have video chatted and all that (to make sure she is as you expect) then I see it as no different from going on holiday with someone you have started dating.
Have fun!

I have life-long friends I've made from forums over the years (horse racing, wildlife rehabbing/falconry, and a forum for IT workers who were being laid off during all the dot.com busts and layoffs, which later became a book or something.)

As a matter of fact, about 13 different ones flew and drove to Arkansas to help me build my cabin when I was building it, and everyone camped out on my land. They all got to meet each other, and 2 of them from different walks of life ended up getting......married a few years later, all because they came here and met.

I think online friendships are often easier than real life, because you are partiicaping on topic-specific forums where you already have stuff in common. I mean, unless you belong to clubs or social groups or kayaking or hiking clubs or vaping clubs in real life, etc.

make sure your friends/family know. Have them appear periodically to check upon you. Don't let her know when/if someone will be showing up. This way, in the event she gets a wide idea, she will know everyone is liable to catch her, and that people will be able to id her and her vehicle to the police. Always have a safety net. Of course that doesn't mean she's any more liable to do something stupid than a person met in the conventional way, either way. Don't ever present yourself as an easy target

Yep :) I am Mrs. Loxmythe :)

Before you have a guest in your home, I'd recommend lots of telephone time, and some face-to-face meetings - perhaps meeting halfway. Set your ground level relationship base prior to taking things to the next level-it only complicates things.

How recent were those relationships?

Lox and I got to know each other quite well prior to actually meeting face-to-face, and yes, we both knew pretty early on that marriage was in our future. Neither of us was looking but....there we were. Most of the people who we interacted with on ECF knew it too - some before WE did. No regrets!

I've met quite a few people off of the internet. A lot of them were really scary and needy and I was starting to think that only crazy existed on the internet. That being said - I'm also falling fast and hard for a sweet woman I met recently off of a dating site who seems to be falling just as fast and hard for me and life is just full of beautiful surprises like that. I couldn't be more on top of the world.. all thanks to saying hello to a stranger on the internet who will be in my arms later tonight. If you comfortably trust that she is who she says she is, have utilized skype or something to that extent, and you both seem to put smiles on each other's faces.. it's worth investigating in my opinion. Always be prepared for and expect the worst... but hope for the best.

I say go for it! I've met hundred of people online! It's not so scary. It usually goes pretty well. It's pretty simple, you meet it and then It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it's told. It puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again. Then it puts the lotion in the basket. Easy peasy chicken squeezy.
