Awww...Common...I really have to be the first here?
Ok...
One day i was running along and he big bad wolf came and said:
"YO!!! DUDE...Either you quit smoking or i will eat your a**..."
I said: "Whatever...I'll do what i want and whenever i want."
And off i go minding my own business when and old lady passed me running (?) and screaming:
"My house is burning...The smoke...my house is burning"
I decided to check it out and nothing was burning on that house....Found Red Ridding Hood making serious vapor on the second floor.
"Yo Red ridding (ridding...hood...wood...bah...something like that) What tha hell is that?"
"I am vaping on my eGo some Red bull" (Red....figures)
"Hey let me try that thing"
Guys i got to tell you....Either i had a bad (?) cake that day or i imagined the whole scene but the last thing i remember was me, The Red ridding hood and the (not so) big bad wolf vaping all day long.
The next thing i remember after that is me running with and eGo on the street but until today i never knew from who it was from.

Ok...i am kidding (wow....really???)
Wanted to quit smoking, started to investigate these devices, tried an m602C and a eGo and guess what...Today i have had 3 systems and currently am vaping on a Revolution 2.1.
There...Short but thick (gonna stop with the bad jokes now....i think)

My first vaping was Sept 2009. Buddy's ecig kit (purchased at the county fair) on a 14 hour road trip in a "non smoking" SUV. It was painfully lacking as I learned on the return, driving at night and trying to stay awake. Even with the ecig, I had to stop every 2 hours for an analog or risk falling asleep at the wheel.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving. I see two of my family members not able to breath, juicy coughs, ya know (and I was not far behind either of them!)...Ordered online with the monthly shipments and supposed 30 day guarantee....(yeah right! ) The next day.

Dec 6th I lost my job. A few days later, the kit was in. I literally smoked my last cig on the way to the post office. The smoke shop is right across the street and I argued with myself on the 20 minute trip if I should buy a pack/carton as a security blanket. Got my box, ripped it open in the parking lot, took a few drags, thought about my financial state and drove home. I have not bought a pack of cigs since. I was a 2PAD smoker.

Fast forward to now. That cr@ppy kit collects dust and I really should PIF it, I have a smoke shop kit, an eGo kit, an EgoT kit, and 7 mods. Just gave those two family members a mod & kit I won from ECF contests and hope and pray it will do the trick for them.

Vape long and proud!

I found vaping while watching the TV show Detroit 817. Except, I didn't know that's what I found when I first saw it. One of the characters was trying to quit using an electronic cigarette. At first I thought it was a prop, and so I didn't give it much thought. I would think about it now and again for the next few weeks, but I didn't do anything about it. Then I remembered that years ago, when I worked for RJR Nabisco, they gave all their smoking employees a sample of one of the original smokeless cigarettes. It was disgusting and totally unsatisfying, which I'm sure is why they never caught on. But I started to wonder if maybe what I saw on the TV was like that sample cigarette, and if they had gotten any better. So I started googling, discovered e-cigs and realized that's what I saw on the TV, then found the ECF and as they say, "the rest is history".

The wife and I tried some cruddy ecigs about a year ago....ho-hum. Still smoked my winstons. Didn't want to quit.

And then something awesome happened. My wife became pregnant!!!!! That gave her the willpower to stop. I had been smoking for twenty years...not so easy to quit for my stubborn rear end. I dusted off the old unsatisfying ecig and puffed and puffed. It just had to work.

Completley unsatisfied and extremely cranky I started scouring the internet for answers. That is when I found ECF.
The people here pointed me in the right direction and suggested the kit I use now.
\
6weeks later I havent touched a real cig, nor do I have an urge to. I can breath again and being a chef...I CAN TASTE AGAIN!!
Looking forward to a new long life with our new daughter Alice who is due in December

For me vaping got me back to not smoking. I smoked for 20 years before I quit five and a half years ago. At the beginning of this year, I started smoking again. I'd like to say it was work stress, or this that and the other thing, but it was just opportunity and stupidity. I tried quitting again several times and was unable to. I felt horrible about it for so many reasons including the harm I was doing to myself, but mostly I felt horrible about the harm I might be doing to my dogs. They're glued to me pretty much 24/7 since I work from home. One of our dogs has chronic lung issues anyway, no way was being around me chain smoking a good thing for him. So when I discovered vaping I took to it immediately, was able to quit analogs the same day I got my first e-cig. I feel like not only have I helped myself, but I've helped my dogs and now it looks like I might have also helped my husband! :) He told me just yesterday that he is ready to kick his 45+ years smoking habit and give e-cigs a try. Oh HAPPY DAY!

I first discovered them on a drunken trip to a Pilot truck stop to by some cigs, saw the njoy kit and said "70 bucks, you must be outta your %$#%#$%# mind":p. My buddy bought one though, and it was utterly disgusting. 2 years later I decided to do some research, im am a very skeptical person when it comes to these things but I cant smoke in my own house, I dont smoke around my daughter because she has breathing problems, I was tired of stinking, I was tired of not being able to breathe, and the list goes on. So I lurked in the shadows here for a month and watched the Smokeless Image forum grow ;) Read some reviews and dove right in on a starter kit. I dont come from money, Nor do I make alot, but you guys made it possible for me to rid myself of that disgusting habit, I am forever thankful to SI and the people on this forum, you all have no idea what your support and what S.I. means to me, I honestly consider every one of you as a best friend :)

Signed up for the newsletter...thanks for the contest.
My story: Was sick and tired of being sick and tired. After many visits to the hospital for bronchitis and liver issues, I knew I had to make a serious change in my life. First came the admittance that I had a problem with alcohol. After working a program that changed my life, I no longer needed to drink, and it was liberating! However, I still chain-smoked, and my health still wasn't as good as it could be for my age. So, I came across an online ad for the Blu-ecig. I immediately ordered one thinking it was gonna be my answer to healthier living. After hundreds of dollars trying to keep up with the Blu, and many failed attempts to truly quit, I had given up hope. A few months after, I found the ECF. I started watching youtube reviews of e-cigs and products, and got a Riva starter kit. At first, I still craved analogs. Then, with some support from the online community, I started purchasing new juice and then on to cartomizers. I was off and running and gradually have lowered my nicotine amount from 24 to 12mg in the 4 great months of being smoke-free. This process has been completely life changing for me. I no longer cough night and day, and I have the ability to actually exercise without pain. Vaping has helped me physically in ways that I could only wish for before. Getting fitter, losing weight, having more lung capacity, etc. is amazing, but mentally I feel a sense of pride and what was once a hobby is now becoming a passion of mine. I believe we all do, but I feel responsible for carrying the message to people who smoke so that they can have the opportunity to experience what I have. God bless :)

Already singed up for newsletter and will be back soon to add story...thanks for the contest!!

My reason for wanting to stop smoking was my 13 year old son. He hated it so much when I would light a cig and would always say how bad it smelled. He would also come home from school after a day of the school’s “don’t smoke” champagne and tell me he wanted me to be around for a long time and not die early from my smoking. That really tore at my heart and I knew I had to find a way to quit. I had tried before…patches, nic gum, anything and everything, but nothing ever satisfied me enough to put down the cigs. That is, until I bought my first e-cig. Of course I started out with a crummy little one and tho it didn’t seem to help a lot, I knew I was on to something. So off to Google…and found ECF, the best thing that ever happened!! I have not had an analog since July of last year, so one full year for me now and I love it. Most importantly tho, my son loves it and that is all I need, to see him happy!!!!! :)

For 30+ years my parents have been there for me. When I lost a job and needed a loan, when I expelled from school because my brother ...... off the teacher, when rent was coming up and broke a tooth....The list could go on for days.

For once in my short life I get the chance to be there for them. I have been vaping for about 9 months now, 4 months cig free and they have seen the miraculous difference in my health, my attitude, my smell, my life.

Now I am their mentor in a way. After some trials with my e-cigs(510's and ego's) and some old 4081 stuff, they finally showed some interest. 2 weeks later and I was blending menthol juices to match my dads analogs. His fathersday present was a nice 510 kit because he wanted "The nice ones, just like my son has". He is slowly smoking less and in a few months he expects to be smoke free! YEAH DAD! My mom is using the 4081 stuff now, but still not thrilled by it. The 510's were too heavy for her and 4081 carto's I had given her are just not vaping well (they never really did).

Winning this kit would give her a guilt free choice (I don't know why but they do not like it when I buy them things) of a kit to start her journey with. It would give us numerous hours of looking and comparing and reading forums together so that she can make a smart choice.

Did I mention that she has acute Asthma? Osteo perosis (she has shrunk a couple inches in a year) and is facing the fact that she may never be able to go back to the work she loves (nursing) because of it. Her back has degenerated to the point that she needs surgery to be able to sit up more than a couple of hours at a time. This, of course, has made her smoke more than ever. I really would love the chance to give back a portion of what she gave me - life.

Pack a day or more for almost 20 years, always out of breath, always worried about the smell of my clothes/breath, finally after I became a dad I knew it was time to think about quitting. A friend of mine at work introduced me to e-cigs.

1st e-cig: Feb 2011

SS Choice No. 7 Micro. 3 pc model. Outrageously high prices, especially on replacement parts and refills. Zero compatibility, so I was trapped by this brand. Retired this model, 50/50 e cig/real cigs at this point.

2nd e-cig: March 2011

I was fixated on finding an e-cig with compatible parts easily found everywhere. I happened onto an NJoy 4081 at a local gas station and picked it up. Unfortunately, this was my first exposure to cartomizers. These things were terrible. taste, draw, noise, just awful. So, after considering some new compatible cartomizers, I ordered a bunch of juice and kept at it. Stuck at 50/50 real vs e-cig.

3rd e-cig: April 2011

E8 from e-cig, straight from China. I was really looking for a true to life sized e cig and got it with the E8. Saw a review from leaford on it, thought it was worth a shot. Truth be told, despite the painful shipping from China, the puny E8 is what got me off real cigs. I ruined a few cartomizers before figuring it all out. Was 100% e cig in April and lovin it.

May 2011: Hit the wall. The song and dance of short battery life and low cart capacity of the E8 was burning me out. Suddenly the E8 was maddeningly inconsistent. Fresh cartomizers from China would cost more than twice their worth in shipping. Bumming. Went through some huge personal issues and was stressing. The only comfort I could find was in the mighty arms of the Marlboro Man. We went for a month long ride on his noble steed through Fresh Country. $200 and a rediscovered wicked smoker's hack later, I decided that dude hadn't actually been out to help me after all.

June 2011: Rededicated to trying this again, I did some pretty good research before I ordered. Settled on the Volt. This thing just flat out kills everything I have tried to this point. And here I am, happy as a clam, Volt in hand, more confident than ever that cigarettes are out of my life. Despite that charming man on the horse that keeps riding past my house.

I was first caught smoking when I was four years old, sneaking half-smoked butts and lighting them just like I saw my folks doing. “So you want to smoke do you?” said my Dad marching off to his bedroom and coming back with a giant stogie, “Well then, smoke this!” He sat me at the kitchen table and offered me a light. I asked for me a mirror, which I sat in front of, doing my best James Cagney impersonation while sucking on the massive cigar, that is until I turned green and the room started spinning.

I didn’t start smoking again until I was fifteen, don’t remember starting but do remember going to school and not checking if my schoolbooks, homework or pens were with me, as long as I had my pack of Lucky Strikes in pocket I was good to go. That was 1967 and I certainly don’t want a counter at the bottom of my page noting how many cigarettes I didn’t avoid. I landed up generally smoking three brands, straight, filtered and exotic, the latter being anything from French, flavored to Indian bindhis. The first time I gave up was 1990 when my daughter was 3 and kept bugging me to stop smoking, so I did. Yeah, that was probably the third time, I’d accomplished that. I subscribed to the motto that I could easily give up cigarettes; I’d done it many times.

In 1994 I had labored the whole day laying down turf in the garden that I had created in our new house. Collapsing in an exhausted ache that comes only from hard layer, a friend looked pityingly at me and said; “Here, you’ve earned this” and handed me a Cuban Cigar. Don't know why I smoked it, I was nicotine free.

You guessed it, I didn’t just start smoking cigars, and I became a cigar hound. I joined a group who me periodically for what we called a “herf”, a get-together to swap cigars, talk about them and generally create a huge communal cloud of smoke. Every day I was on the newsgroup dedicated to it and checking my mailbox to see if that shipment of Cubans had come in from Portugal yet, (shhhhh). Well at least that was the only illegal thing I was smoking at that time, but that’s another story. I became so good at smoking cigars that I became a taste tester for one of the magazines dedicated to smoking. Every month I’d get a bunch of cigars in the mail without wrappers. I had to smoke them and give a review of them, guessing where there tobaccos came from and what they were, taste, draw, etc.

A few years I decided I’d had enough cigars, mainly because being an ex-cigarette smoker I couldn’t help inhaling a decent amount in my lungs and causing a rather bountiful morning hack each day. Went through cold turkey I and there I was, smoke-free again. For probably 10 months, when I spotted a pack of my wife’s cigarettes which she smoked very occasionally. Grabbed one and smoked it. I know you’re thinking I was immediately hooked and started smoking right away. Well, not exactly. It was menthol and I hated menthol so I went to the store and bought a pack so I could have just one, and yes, now you know the rest of the story.

Cut to 30 days ago. I was surfing on the net and somehow came across the video of Katheryn Heigl demonstrating e-cigs on the Letterman show. I’d heard something about them before but hadn’t paid attention. This time I immediately went online and found a disposable cig site that didn’t want to put me on their book of the month type program, thinking “Well let’s see if this could really work for me”. Four days later I was scouring the web to find more info when I discovered ECF, thinking I’d get on there, find a reputable dealer and give them a call. “Morning ma’am, yes I’d like an E-Cig that looks like a cigarette, tastes like a cigarette, has a very long battery life and doesn’t need much fussing with it”.

Well reading the board clued me in that it wasn’t like that, so I did a huge amount of research, bookmarking all kinds of things, making notes, reminders and finally bought my first Personal Vaporizer called a Go-go which I love. I’ve been vaping about 17 days now. Pretty soon I cut back from about 15 cigarettes a day to 3, even during a week’s travel in Mexico. On returning, I went to 2, 1 and today is my third day at 0. Naturally same as I used to carry different brands of smokes, I’m vaping a little variety of juices each day. I’ve ordered about 70 different juices to test and some to vape. Unlike most new vapors I’m happy with my equipment choice so I’ve been seriously blowing my future savings on juice. I need a different counter for the bottom of my posts which doesn’t show how much money I’ve saved, but how deep my hole is. Honestly, I’m thrilled to spend my kid’s inheritance on it; I’m too old to continue that serious addiction knowing what it can do to my health.

When I was younger, I predicted that when we were old, our kids would probably hook up their brains to some electronic gadget instead of taking chemicals or pot to get high. Well that never happened. When I first saw a game of Pong I could see a future where we’d interact directly with a videogame and play tennis by waving a racket at our TV screen. I foresaw a time when computers wouldn’t take up a whole room and we’d each have one in our homes. I just never foresaw a time we’d be “smoking” a flavored nicotine liquid powered by a battery and blowing out water vapor that looked like smoke. Not only that, but it would be invented in China; I don’t think they’ve invented anything since gunpowder. Thank goodness for things I couldn’t foresee. A few months ago I though juice was something that came from oranges and go-go was some kind of a dancer on a pole. Today I’m happy to be classified as a vaper.
