Okay...with arm twisted....here is my story;)

I first heard about the electronic cigarette from a radio talk show host that quit a long long history of smoking. I was intrigued for a while, but never quite so intrigued as to look into buying one. I loved smoking and had been doing it for 20+ years. Then the price kept going up and a year later up even more. Finally my mom mentioned e-cigs....she got "tired of spending over 60 bucks a week on cigarettes". So what I heard was "let's do this together" So....talked to hubby about it and he was all for it. So Just to try it out, I ordered a Volcano kit....what a waste of money.....did nothing for me and very little for the hubby. So I went back and ordered their 510 kit....again, did nothing for me however hubby quite enjoyed it. Just after ordering that kit, I found ECF. Oh BTW...my mom was a total no go on either of those kits also...mostly cause of the menthol...she wants something just like what she has with a ciggie:facepalm: Anyway....reading away, I decided to take the overwhelming advice of experienced users and ordered an eGo.....Mistake number 3:( Still smoking ciggies and reading more and more, I found the glorious world of the 808. From day one with my 808, no ciggies and have been ciggie free ever since. I still use an eGo for dripping, but my true love and lifesaver came from the 808. I ordered a few for my mother and some cartos that sounded more like what she would like....and they are very much like her ciggies (just a tad minty though) and she has cut back on her ciggies, but I have come to the conclusion that she is just not quite ready to fold her hand entirely. But when she is, she has all she needs to do it....filled cartos, empty cartos, juice, and about 4 batts with a charger and a pcc. Hubby and I are extremely happy with all our yummy flavors and feel so much better now without the ciggies:D

Okie dokie, why not! I love to talk :D

I am a bit of a hypochondriac with a slight twist of thanatophobia (fear of dying), and cigarette smoking surely wasn't helping me feel any better...

I started looking into electronic cigarettes right around the end of Feb. this year. I google searched and found a website showing the Top 10 E-Cig suppliers. I had then decided I needed to purchase from one of the top 3, to make sure I was going to obtain a great product, that hopefully worked. Well, then, I saw the prices :( How could I afford this? I couldn't, and back to smoking and back to being depressed and scared.

The beginning of March, I decide, I am going to search for other people who use these products as well. I specifically search for, e-cig forums, and guess where I ended up? :D As soon as I became a member, and started asking all of my questions (those who know me and how much I talk HAVE to know that I surely asked a helluvalotta questions ;) ). Those new members around here might know or remember Rose? She helped me a lot! Along with a great deal of awesome peoples here in the forums. I ended up ordering an eGo kit on Wednesday March 2nd and got my kit on Saturday March 5th. I haven't touched a cigarette since.

Through these past 4 months, I have enjoyed the company of many fine folk and have found that this is more than just a place to find great vendors and products (though that is a fantastic bonus :) ), but an immense and vast vault of information and user help! We help one another, most of us have nothing but the good of others in mind and I love it! If one forth of the worlds population could treat each other like everyone here does, then I do not believe a great deal of the world's problems would still be around.

I will continue to spread the information handed down to me to those just starting or whomever needs it, in the ECF or offline. I have gained friendships, I have gained knowledge (not only on vaping products, but on cigarettes, smoking, nicotine and pretty much everything having to do with vaping or quitting smoking), but most of all, I've gained my life back. It is not 100% certain how safe e-cigs are, but what I do 100% know is, that I will NOT die from smoking cigarettes, and I am ecstatic.

OK, nothing too interesting, but at least i'll be in for the random number pick!

I started my vaping journey in January (anyone who's ever experienced January in Nebraska will understand!), but only succeeded in reducing my cigarette usage from 2 packs per day down to 1/2 pack per week by early March. At times in my life i've smoked as much as 3-4 packs per day.

When my birthday rolled around in late March as it inevitably does every year, I realized that I had been smoking cigarettes for over 40 years. (I'm 53, BTW) I decided to smoke a cigarette in "celebration" of my birthday -- since i was still in the "deprived of cigarettes" mindset and viewed it as a treat or indulgence. It tasted absolutely VILE. At that moment, the 40-year number exploded in my feeble brain, and my mindset changed from "wa-a-ah I really want a cigarette RIGHT NOW" to "Wow, I really don't need these anymore".

Here's to not only being ON the wagon, but actually taking the reins and enjoying the ride! :vapor:

Where I usually am
Ok...I suck at contest and stories but here it goes.
To me the ecig is a miracle. It got me away from the analogs and on the vaping train:)
It all started with my younger brother really. Knowing that I started smoking at 9 and had been smoking for 27 years, Last year he held up an ecig to my face and said 'vape it...draw on it like a cig' so I did....and for the first time, I knew I could finally drop the killer stinkies. It was really good timing for me for I had been very sick with vitamin disorder always having to see the doc and listening to her say 'quit now!' 'you need to drop that habit,it's going to kill you' etc.
My first week vaping was a true delight. I wanted to smoke but I was able to hold off. I found that there were fruity flavors, desert flavors and so on and thought this is way cooler than smoking!
My second or third week vaping I had developed a soar throat, cold flu like symptoms that lasted for a couple of weeks:(,...I googled on line and had found ECF "didn't join at the time" and read about other folks experiences with withdraws and what they went through so I felt comfortable on continuing my path of vaping victory.
About 3 or so months of vaping,....I wasn't sick anymore, I could breath, taste and strangely enough I felt stronger. More alive! By far the best thing was my vitamin B12 disorder went away!! Doc took blood test for two weeks and found that the levels were normal. HA! No more shots on the ...!
Since then I began converting every smoker I know to ecigs AND STILL DO.
The more time goes by the better I feel. Just not physically but mentally too. Maybe mentally cause my daughter is almost 18:laugh: :vapor:

Where I usually am
Is the Volt a 510 compatible device
Hi rokkyofnh... The Volt is a kr808 batt. I guess if you had an adapter on a kr808 to a 510 carto at 2.2 to 2.4 ohms would work. I haven't seen one though. I have a adapter to use 808 & 901's on a 510 batt.
See the Smokeless Image OFFICIAL THREAD and ask any questions you may have on the VOLT there:)

The Internet
I believe the year was 2032, and I was very near my deathbed, and knew that I had to do something to ease the pain smoking had caused me.

While making a rum cake, I accidentally tipped a bottle of rum flavoring over on the stove, spilling it directly onto the burner. Being that the bottle of flavoring was mainly propylene glycol, it created quite the vapor cloud, and this got me to thinking. Why couldn't cigarettes have ever been made better.

Not having the skills or financial backing to research and develop such a device, I sought out to find an inventor that I could give my idea to. While looking for an inventor, I realized all the lives that would be helped by such a device, and wished that I could have benefited from such a device. This gave me an idea . . . why not a past inventor?

I gathered all the money that I had, and headed to the Museum of Historic Space and Time and bought myself a trip as far to the past as I could afford. Now, I knew that I could be arrested for breaking the space/time continuum, but I felt that I had nothing to lose. I found myself in the presence of an inventor named Hon Lik, who seemed to be a very intelligent man, and also had some tragic maladies in his life related to smoking. I waited for him to fall asleep, and I whispered my idea in his ear as he slept.

A couple years ago, not being aware of what I had done in the future, I found myself researching electronic cigarettes, then finally took the plunge about a year ago. I am so grateful that Hon Lik heard my story and made it happen.

Now if I could only find out what I've done in my future to help me now. I'm near being locked away in an institution . . . something about delusions of grandeur . . . separation of fantasy and reality . . . or something like that.

I don't recall where or how I first became aware of e-cigs, but I first started researching it (and discovered ECF) due to my concern over a dear old friend, a functioning schizophrenic who self-medicates with maybe 2+ packs a day in addition to her regular psych meds, as she has done for the roughly 20 years I've known her. Heavy nicotine use is apparently common among schizophrenics, as it seems to help them prioritize and filter the "signal" of important information out of the trivial "noise" of daily life, a key issue with their condition. She's made progress to the point where she can hold down a part-time job and apartment and raise her son as a single mom, but she still smokes 2+ packs a day; she practically has to, in order for her life to be manageable at all.

For myself, I soon concluded I wanted an eGo USB passthrough to help me avoid the recurring temptation of tobacco, though I'd actually stopped smoking for several months. There wasn't even a complete starter kit for the passthru available at the time, so I put my own together piece by piece, got a bunch of different 510 attys to compare, and probably too many different flavors of juice to sample, but I'm well-set for quite a while to come and resisting the temptation to sample more juices until I put more of a dent in the supply I've already got. Next project is building my own e-pipe mod...

However, despite the clear benefit of the eGo's long battery life (a decisive purchase point for me), I figured that type of setup would probably be too unfamiliar and complicated for my friend, and unsuitable as an easy, direct substitution for cigarettes in her daily routine, demanding too much of a change in habits all at once. I needed to find her something as close to smoking analogs as possible, in action and routine right down to the means of resupplying (at least she was already ordering analog cartons online by then), but with good battery life to minimize the complication of recharging, carrying spare batts and chargers, charging and carrying a PCC, etc.

Those criteria clearly pointed to a KR808D-1 type of kit, already known for having the best battery life in a "mini" format and typically equipped with vacuum-activated auto switches that avoid the false-triggering problem of mic switches; better yet, being a popular system designed as a 2-piece setup, prefilled cartos would be readily available and thus as easy to resupply as buying analog cartons online. I'd seen the buzz about Bloog's latest-gen KR8 tech, which seemed to offer promising performance, but I was deterred by their price point and marketing hype, so I was still looking, either for something more at that price (maybe a big-batt KR8 option) or for something similar at a more reasonable price and more earnestly marketed.

When reviews of the new Volt started appearing, saying it seemed to be similar if not the very same latest-gen KR8 tech with the same great performance, but at a more reasonable price and shipping cost, not to mention more accessible and responsive customer service (a complaint she'd had about some of her online carton suppliers), I knew I'd found the right kit and vendor for my friend. On a recent vacation back home, I paid her a visit and brought out my eGo whenever I'd join her for a smoke, so I could explain how it worked and generally warm her up to the idea. After explaining how a 2-piece setup worked, and how much money she'd be saving even with prefilled cartos, she seemed willing to give it a shot, so I bought her a standard starter kit for the Volt as a gift from me.

While I was staying at my Dad's place on vacation, he was still smoking up to a pack a day and griping about the recent smoking ban driving him outside to smoke at his regular bar -- a real PITA come wintertime in Wisconsin! He seemed intrigued by my eGo as I was vaping at the bar, and he had already dipped a toe in the waters with a single-batt basic kit he bought locally (looked like a Joye 306 knockoff/rebrand) that he found okay to avoid smoking in the car but not compelling enough to switch full-time, though he was pleased to find out that he can refill carts rather than having to buy prefilled, a major improvement in rationalizing the cost. After explaining how a 2-piece setup works, and that cartos can also be refilled at least a few times, he seemed game to give it a shot, so I went ahead and bought another Volt starter kit as a gift for him as well, which arrived promptly enough that I could show him how to refill his cartos.

At last report, my friend and my Dad are both enjoying their Volts and haven't turned back to an analog since, though Dad still has to kick the habit of reaching over from the couch to "ash" his e-cig. :D

I am getting ready to celebrate my 1 Year Anniversary next month of being smoke free, and what vaping has done for me is to allow my the freedom to enjoy the fresh air outdoors again, to not be out of breath walking up the hills... and to be able to enjoy a puff on the beach and in public parks here in California, where smoking has been banned in most of them!!!

The wife and I tried some cruddy ecigs about a year ago....ho-hum. Still smoked my winstons. Didn't want to quit.

And then something awesome happened. My wife became pregnant!!!!! That gave her the willpower to stop. I had been smoking for twenty years...not so easy to quit for my stubborn rear end. I dusted off the old unsatisfying ecig and puffed and puffed. It just had to work.

Completley unsatisfied and extremely cranky I started scouring the internet for answers. That is when I found ECF.
The people here pointed me in the right direction and suggested the kit I use now.
\
6weeks later I havent touched a real cig, nor do I have an urge to. I can breath again and being a chef...I CAN TASTE AGAIN!!
Looking forward to a new long life with our new daughter Alice who is due in December

Good stuff man! I'm in the exact same boat as you. My wife is 6 months pregnant. She's due in October and quitting analogs has been quite the chore for me. I smoked for 13 years and since I came to ECF looking for some support it's been so much better! My wifes happier which is awesome and I feel alot better. I'm spending $ like crazy but it's a fun hobby and I feel amazing compared to how I used to.

What rig are you currently using man?
