The purchase contest isn't related to the ECF contest. So it would only go by your order & registered name on SI -- any customer of theirs would be entered if they made a qualifying purchase, not just ECF members.

That does raise a question though: the contest isn't mentioned on the website, so someone could win $500 out of the blue and not know why?

So here's how I found vaping:
I was a smoker of 17 years...literally half my life I had heard about ecigs here and there for the last few years but never really investigated them. Then about a month ago ran into an article on one of the tech blogs I regularly read, E-Lites electronic cigarette review: no one ever said healthy was delicious -- Engadget , and it got me thinking, quit smoking AND get to buy new gadgets...I can totally do this!
I had tried to quit spring of 2010 using the nic gum and lasted about 5 days before crumbling. I had been wanting to give it another shot and this "electronic cigarette" seemed like the perfect thing to get me back on the wagon. Reading the comments on that article I saw mention of ECF and dove head-first into research. WOW Didn't realize it would take a masters degree to figure it out

I got my first PV kit, a Volt obviously , a little over three weeks ago and I am smoke free a little over two weeks now. I still have cravings but I think it's more out of habit than real need because my Volt has got me covered.

So here's my entry #2
Lets take a trip back one week ago this morning...

(que hazy fog and black and white flashback)​

I had been analog free for 9 days, first time in 17 years I'd gone longer than a few days without a smoke. I was feeling pretty good, proud of myself, generally over the worst part of quitting. So of course it was time for a speed bump in the otherwise smooth road to healthy vaping.

Dum Dum Duuuummmm​

(that was the soundtrack sounding threatening)​

The work trip

(begin the montage, pick your own power ballad)​

Day 1: 7 hours in a rented Uhaul van with a coworker who still smokes, has a special ability to get under my skin , and snores loud in our shared hotel room
Days 2, 3, and 4: 12 to 14 hour days spent largely in crawl spaces and attics. Followed by more snoring...
Day 5: 6 hours work THEN 7 hour drive back home...

(end montage playing "Eye of the Tiger" with strong willed Lax vaping his way thru the whole damn week )​

And the moral to this story... I watch to many movies No, seriously. Vaping has eliminated my dependence on analogs completely and in an unbelievably short amount of time. I made it through my first challenging situation as a non-smoker and came out shiny on the other side.

Well, here's my entry #2.

My husband David and I were married for almost 23 years, but he was my best friend for a quarter of a century. He was my soulmate - my confidante. In February of 2010 I rushed him to the hospital ER because he was unable to breathe. His doctors said that they were unable to handle his situation because they were not equipped, and sent him by ambulance to a hospital in Indianapolis. There - he was put on a ventillator in ICU. There he remained for three weeks. I was able to remain at his side without having to lose precious time with him by stealth vaping intead of repeatedly going outside for a smoke. Those last moments with him were priceless. Vaping gave that to me.
