"He strains to hear a whisper who refuses to hear a shout." --James Oliver Rigney Jr. (a.k.a. Robert Jordan)

I read this in The Fires of Heaven, one of his Wheel of Time series of epic novels, and it's always stuck with me because it's something I've always felt too.

Just giving props to the late Robert Jordan. One of my favourite authors/series of all time. I'm actually in the early stages of a complete re-read of the series so I'm all caught up for the January release of A Memory of Light. 1 book down already, 12 more to go. Jordan was a master of imagery and his death was a serious loss for the genre.

"War does not determine who's right, war determines who's left" - Anon.
"Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity" - Anon.
"Eat well, stay fit, die anyways" - Anon.
"Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life" - Anon

That last one should be attributed to Terry Pratchett, if I'm not mistaken.

Very much so. I was truly sad to hear of his passing. His was the first truly epic series of novels I started reading and he quickly became my favourite author and made me love reading huge books, because it meant I got to spend more time in his world than the average book, and his was a world you just wanted to keep revisiting. I literally re-read all previous books in the series when a new one came out so everything felt fresh and contiguous -- and I looked forward to doing so each time. He left us far too soon.

"All we are is dust in the wind"- Kansas

I doubt anyone will appreciate this, but this reminded me of an episode of Supernatural. Since this is gorey and OT, I'll just post a link and not insert the video ( @ ~ 2:00).

I wish I were in a quote mood lately, no Socrates or Aristotle ? Well there is; ""I only know that I know nothing" - Socrates. Oh and I forgot ""Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it." - Confucius

Thanks. I knew I would find a new author to read :)
