Menthol Ice by Halo
I'm finally getting around to posting reviews of some of my favorite eliquids. Starting with my favorite of all time; Menthol Ice by Halo. Reviewing Menthol Ice to me is like reviewing Classic Coke. But for the menthol folks who haven't tried it I'll do my best to do it justice.
Taste & Feel:
In my experience, menthol eliquids fall into two categories: a menthol sensation (what I call a eucalyptus sensation) or menthol flavor (minty). Menthol Ice fits in the menthol sensation bucket. Like most Halo flavors, it's clean. The taste is hard to explain… it's an appropriately titled icy taste with an almost indistinguishable minty vanilla… with extra emphasis on the indistinguishable part. The vanilla is hardly there, so much that I don't always notice it until I've switched to another flavor and come back to Menthol Ice. There are no tobacco notes and that's one of the reasons why Menthol Ice is my MVP in all-day-vapes — it's not overpowering or overly flavorful. I don't like strong flavors, this includes all desert/sweet and tobacco flavors. Their nice for a hot minute then I'm sick of them. The feel is icy perfection. Halo nailed the menthol sensation without being overpowering… it's strong but not too strong. I've had other menthol juices that were just way, way too harsh. Menthol Ice takes you right to the edge of harsh without ever stepping over. The TH is consistently right on the money… if I had to rate 1-5 with 5 being the highest, it's easily a 4 along with vapor production.
Pairs nice with…
Coffee (hot or ice). Seriously, they go together so well it's scary. Menthol Ice answered my initial common quitting smoking hang-up: "what could possibly every replace my cigarette with coffee?" The fact that the flavor of MI is so neutral is the reason why they go together so well. It accents the taste of coffee with a nice icy contrast without ever tainting the flavor. On the flip side, coffee influences the initial taste of Menthol Ice in a really nice way that I imagine is what so many coffee juices try to accomplish or replicate.
Would I recommend it?
Yes. It's my first recommendation to any menthol smoker. But for those who demand a bit more simulated tobacco flavor, I would would steer them more towards True Pure, another favorite that I will review soon.
