Just getting started couple of weeks with RBAs AGA-T and did clones whats the best size mesh for what use and why?
Have some 400 have some 500 coming from co-op now I am seeing 635 being used/tried.
Looking at co-ops and priceing appx cost is 500=.034 cents per sq inch and 635 is .34 cents per sq inch does 635 work 10 times as good:confused:

while there are some slight differences in wicking speed of the fluid, most of the mesh size VS wicking speed hype is a myth.
ZEN himself (the guy behind zenesis and the Zatty) has stated mesh size has more to do with dictating throat hit then wicking speed as you should be tilting the geni tank when drawing vapor anyways.

also there is this list of places to get mesh

If you've got 400 and 500 mesh coming, I would definitely hold off on the 635 until after you've tried the others first. Most people have great results with those types, and I think you are doing it right by starting with mesh that is tried-and true (and cheaper), rather than just buying everything that's available, lol.

It takes some experimentation to find the perfect setup, and you'll hear 1,000 different answers as to what the"perfect setup" is- because everyone has a different definition of perfection. Personally, I'm not into leakage or tilting, so I go with a wide, hole-filling, solid 400 mesh wick. Occasionally I get dry hits with heavy juices like Boba's, but the tradeoff is that I can generally rest my genesis systems on their sides without them leaking all of their juice, and with a solid 400 mesh wick you shouldn't need to tilt much, if at all.

I'm an old pipe smoker, so tilting my device to at or near horizontal just seems natural to me. I use my tube mods the same way. Dry hits are never a problem. My wicks are fairly snug in the wick hole too, and rolled pretty tight. So I can lay my devices on their sides also, although I usually don't.

The occasional dry hit is because 400 can't wick fast enough to replace the juice, even the great Zen can't go against the laws of physics if you want to tip, any mesh works as a juice drain, but capillary action, (wicking) the smaller the holes the better even with Bobas the smaller the better. Also being tight in the wick hole does not restrict capillary action. Here is a 500 wick with a tight wrap of coil wire, didn't even phase the capillary action. clic on pic for video

I've seen your experiments, and I want to say thanks for bringing some science to the table :)

Dry hits are cured with a quick tilt and burn. Honestly, I like my setup so much that it isn't worth changing at the moment, but maybe some time in the future. My 400 twill weave is close to 500 straight weave in terms of hole size and density, anyway... ;)
