Also, an oxidised mesh wick will colour your juice, which is fine in a tank but perhaps not so desirable when it is withdrawn back into the bottle after a squonk!

It is possible to use just a mesh wick alone - but, i found i had better results with a hybrid one: mesh wrapped around either cotton or silica.

Only if you over handle the mesh and break up the oxidation will it color the liquid. Happened to me once with a genny when I was learning. Roll, then oxidize. Reverse will cause that. Never since with any of my gennys or Rm2. Only thing drawn back into my gennys are air bubbles.
I get about 4-5 pulls before needing a squonk which I don't view as inconvenient at all.

Is that 400mesh xobe? How does it handle the 100%vg? I ask because I never tried it. Started using SS after I stopped buying 100%vg and now I'm DIY...been thinking about ordering some BB or GJ to see how I like it now. Also if you have any experience with those liquids and a micro coil, do they gunk the coil quickly?

Vaping 8mg at the moment. Willing to vape as high as 18. Only reason I haven't gone lower is the lack of TH. I'd appreciate that.

There's no reason to switch Mac. Personally I just don't care for cotton. I personally can taste it. I can't see wicking being more neutral than SS, not to mention that I have at least 7 different flavors steeping at any given time and need to sample these. The SS allows me to drip a different flavor without corruption from the prior flavor. I'm averaging a month out of each wick and coil and change because it's"time"not because of failure.

Just seems implausible. Unless you remove the wick and clean it, there will be residue from the last flavor. I can do the same with cotton in less than a minute. Pull wick, dry burn, rewick, done and taste the next flavor. I guess the down side is I've wasted about one tenth of a cent on the cotton.

Why is it implausible? You burn it off. Something you can't do with natural wicking. If there's any liquid it's evaporated. You've only wasted time. Look I get it. You love your cotton. Not going to spend my time defending SS. Frankly it's just not that important to me. I have my experience, you have yours. I used natural wicking for quite sometime. Works great. Initially you can taste it. It dissipates then you have a great vape, then you have to change it. You can't change flavors without changing the wick. One of my favorite things I loved when I discovered bottom feeding using an atty at the time was the ability to drip a different flavor at any time. No carrying spare tanks of different flavors. Just a small, light bottle, pull the drip tip off and drip. When that's done squeeze the bottle and you're back to the bottle.
You're using a really nice performing cartomizer essentially. I prefer an atomizer. I don't want to have to switch my cartomizer to switch flavors even if it takes less than a minute. I want to exhaust the flavor in there then simply drip a new one...
