So, title kinda explains it.

Every build I've made (rba, rda, Killer clone) has been from the same 100ft roll of Kanthal 32g, A1 round. At first, It was bad. Then I learned how to eliminate hotspots and make good wick/wire contact, and it was great. Now, it's bad. I've been using the same supplier of mesh and silica the whole time, so I'm not quite sure it's that.

To me, the only point of change seems to be the Kanthal. Is this even possible?

the taste you describe is a hotspot or short. it can happen no matter what wire you use. you need to pop the cap off, drain the tank is fire it and check again.

the only other possibility is your running the voltage too high and creating a misfiring coil, sort of forcing a hotspot.

when you fire with the cap off (juice in) do you notice vapor from one or two coils first? or does the whole coil start to fog if its just one little spot this is still hotspotting.

post a pic if you can

do yourself a favor and buy a thicker gauge wire, 30g is so much better. 32g is just to flimsy and it just doesn't stay a lot of the times, very inconsistent.

I would agree, 30g is an all-around good gauge to use.. but I'm using 32g in my GP spheroid and it's working great (and much easier to work with) It sounds like the op is running too high voltage/wattage and/or there is a gap, a place on the coil where it's not touching the wick. silica is pretty forgiving but ss mesh isn't.
