Hi all

Now that i'm into rebuilding stuff.. thought it would be nice to have a collective of coil setups and specifics. not sure if this has been done before, but if so, please point me in the right direction!

I'll get the ball rolling. Will update this first post once in a while. Just quote/cut and past from the next most recent post and add on your build results! should make for a good info thread. If there is enough response, and as more results come in, i'll start to siphon them off into more subcategories. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Do feel free to post pics of your glowing coils!

I've sorted my first post by clearomizer/RBD/rba etc, followed by the wicking material, type of coil, number of coils and resistance.

submissions with links at the end re-direct to their respective post with pictures.

My all time favorite:

Micro coil - 30 ga Kanthal A1 wrapped around a 0.55" mold/jig 10 wraps 1.5ish ohms. Rolled sterile USP cotton wick.

This coil has been used much of the day for approximately the last month and rewicked about 4 times.

The vapor it produces is off the chain :)

I'm sure this has been done before. But, I know I like a lot of info on rebuildables to get ideas. On that note, here is a build that I just finished that I am enjoying very much.

IGO-w with one air hole from fasttech (silly fasstech. So you all know, fasttech has IGO-w with one air hole and no post holes.):
32 gauge kanthal. 2 strands twisted.
I think 11 wraps (sorry lost count and it's hard to count twisted wires)
1.6 Ohms
Cotton wick at around 1/16 diameter

Running it cool on usb passthrough
3 Volts
1.87 Amps
5.62 Watts

juice being used: 12 mg 60vg/40pg 12gauge(horchata) from Copperhead Road

edit: for some reason, the picture looks like garbage when I posted it. :/

The coil jig is made by a member named darkzero and the .055 part is a piano wire where you wrap the coil on. I also prefer the .055 over the 1/16 drill bit.

Yep, thanks Player :)

Here's a video showing how I use it to build a perfect micro coil.

Wow, that jig is sweet. So I now have my Reo Grand and a RM2 and have built 2 coils so far. I have not had results as good as the more experienced builders but I will get there. Already the results are better than the 510 carts I have been using. The youtube demo is awesome! Great video and commentary during the tutorial. Thanks all!

yup i've seen that thread.

my intention for this thread was for people to post their build specs and final resistance results, and to tabulate them all into the first post for easy reference.

for example, i've had no experience with microcoils. if i intended to build up something, it would be nice to have a reference. maybe someone has done up a coil with the resistance i'm looking for, using the same RBA/RBD that I have; at least i would know roughly what wire to use and with that wire, how many coils in a microcoil i would need to reach that resistance amount. takes some of the guesswork out of these things.. :)

^^ thanks for that. useful info indeed. good for microcoil users, but unfortunately there is no non-microcoil info there..

i'm assuming there are some people who are just getting into rebuilding (like myself) and may find build setups and results for non-microcoils useful when starting out. i've also sorted by type of clearo/RBA/RBD.. whether or not its relevant/helpful.

Let me attempt to make it twice as useful. Avg. micro is 1/16" where's most standard coils are about 1/8". All those #s apply if you do 1/2 the wraps on a standard coil.

3/32"? . . . . . . ~ 3/4 the wraps

so, if my micro (1/16" ID) is 10 wraps for 1Ω, then a standard 1/8" coil is 5 wraps for 1Ω, and a 3/32" coil is a 7/8 wrap. (of the same wire gauge)
