Metallic Tasting Vape

Okay guys i got a Copper Stillare Clone in the mail and have been building on it, at first i was using 24g kanthal at .3 ohms and my hits were tasting metallic. so i switched to a .5 28g nano dragon dual coil build. i am still getting the metallic taste. since it is copper im nervous about inhaling copper fumes plus it just tastes odd. anyone have any input? thanks

edit: coils arent dry iv actually drenched the cotton with 5Ps Absolute Pin

Did you wash it good with dawn soap, hot iso alcohol after the wash and dry?

i washed with scoulding hot water, i wasnt sure how to was as it was copper, how do i get the alcohol hot? microwave? and the only thing glowing i can see is the tip of the coil that is exposed(my nano dragons have always done this)

If it were me Id try it with a wet piece of cotton on the glowing bit of coil , to see if maybee that for some reason thats doing it

Im surprised its never bothered you before or maybe you had soo much vapor it over-rided the hot wire

DO NOT MICROWAVE ALCOHOL.

Get hot water and let the bottle of alcohol sit in it. But I always wash my attys/mods in-between rebuilds with Dawn soap, a toothbrush and hot water. I find this gets rid of that taste.

Also just a thought, could you possibly be smelling the patina of the copper and think you are tasting it?

i pulled some of the cotton over the exposed end and it isnt as harsh as it was,though i do still taste it.
how do i keep my coils from burning hot like that? theyve always burned hot, i guess since im using a RDA with less resistance im noticing it more,

Sounds like there might still be some machining oil somewhere in the mix. Give everything a good wash & scrub. To warm isopropyl, I'd put a bowl of it in hot water... I'd be nervous about microwaving something that flammable. It boils a little quicker than water (176º rather than 212º) so keep that in mind.

no im tasting it for sure, it makes the hit burn. not just like a throat hit but scratchy burning and i instantly taste it on the exhale and the cough that comes after

You know, I had a problem with this with a Authentic Black Russian 91% no matter how many times I washed it, I got a GNARLY chemical taste, I had to return it. Could be either machine oil, or something worse.

puffy cotton to hold more juice, or more wraps of wire can help

Also as a process of elimination, torch all the kanthal in-case it could be machine oil.

You know, I had a problem with this with a Authentic Black Russian 91% no matter how many times I washed it, I got a GNARLY chemical taste, I had to return it. Could be either machine oil, or something worse.

do you think id be able to return a clone that is already patina-ing? be DOA i guess?

That, I could not answer. I ordered my Russian from a authentic/reputable vendor so I explained my issues, and they returned it.

Well the cleaning helped somewhat but not completely, it is still harsh and not much flavor in the vape.

Is this RDA all copper?...if so,wouldnt juice react with the copper?
